Manhunt for Murder Suspect in Orange County

Orange County deputies have charged 53-year-old Matthew Jared Vukimer with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of 54-year-old Paula Floyd. The incident happened Friday morning at his home in the Wingay community southeast of Hillsboro. Vukimer fled the scene before deputies arrived, and he's now the subject of an active manhunt. Officials say he drove off in a dark-colored Ford Superduty truck with North Carolina license plate JL-6-012. Sheriff Charles Blackwood expressed deep condolences to Floyd's family and friends, stressing the need to bring Vukimer into custody quickly. He urged the public to stay vigilant. Deputies describe Vukimer as a white man about 5 feet 11 inches tall, with no facial hair. He was last seen wearing a dark green t-shirt and green shorts.
