Manatee County Honors Late Commissioner Felts

0:00In Tampa Bay today, March 3rd, Manatee County commissioners gather Tuesday morning to honor their late colleague, Carol Ann Feltz, exactly one week after her sudden death at her. Miyaka City Home Feltz represented District 1 and quickly became known for her strong advocacy for rural residents. She came from a family with deep Florida roots spanning 10 generations and more than 200 years. Elected in 2024, she defeated a developer-backed candidate and focused on protecting agricultural lands and conservation areas from, rapid change. Commissioners and community members praised her fierce dedication, noting how she gave voice to places like Parish, Elanton, and Northern Palmetto. Her passion stood out as she tackled issues head on to preserve a vanishing way of life. In response, the commission named a new preserve at David J. Crane Park after her. That part just grew by 16 acres to boost public access to green spaces and wildlife habitats. They also launched steps for rural lands and citizens advisory board,
