Man Sentenced for Gas Explosion, Neighborhood Heals

0:00On April 8th, a 58-year-old man named Paul Solway just got hit with an 11-year prison sentence for sparking a massive gas explosion that wrecked his own house and messed up five neighbors in Derby. Back on June 10th, Solway tampered with the gas main in his basement, then lit a chair on fire in the kitchen, turning the whole place into a fireball. The blasts forced folks out of their homes for days. With two neighboring buildings so trash, they had to be torn down completely, shaking up the… entire Alveston community. Only Solway and his dog were inside. He ended up with serious burns while rescuers pulled the pup from the rubble, and he copped a guilty plea to six. Counts of reckless property damage that could have cost lives. Earlier this week at Derby Crown Court, officials called it a selfish move with lasting pain for innocent families, but now Solway's locked up. Turning the area start healing for real.
