0:00On March 25th, a 24-year-old man from South London has received the life sentence for murdering a 56-year-old woman in a random street. Attack! Chiu Cuomeca Ahanonu crashed his car while high on cannabis in Lester on June 24th, 2025, then violently assaulted Nila Patel. As she walked home from a bus stop, earlier that day, Ahanonu had driven from his home in Pecum to Lester. Many guards from a nearby hospital rushed to the crash scene on Welford Road, where his vehicle flipped after swerving on the wrong side of the road and smashing through traffic lights. They held him until police arrived. Miss Patel suffered a fractured skull and brain injuries, and despite emergency care, she passed away two days later. Her family has been left in deep pain from this sudden loss of a gentle woman just heading home. Lester Crown Court on March 23rd, a jury convicted Ahanonu of murder. He had already admitted to dangerous driving, possessing drugs with intent to supply, and
