Man Sentenced for Fatal Street Assault

The incident happened in September 2023 when Rigo refused to leave his former partner's home in Kensington. She called Scali for help, and once he arrived, Rigo tackled him outside and punched him repeatedly as shown on CCTV footage. Scali's family has been devastated by the loss, with the judge noting the profound impact on their lives. Rigo's tough upbringing was mentioned, but did not lessen the crime seriousness. Medical reports found Scali died from heart disease worsened by methamphetamine use and the stress of the fight, triggering a cardiac arrest. Rigo did not intend to kill him, but continued the attack even as Scali struggled to breathe. The sentence accounts for time already served, and requires Rigo to stay in jail, at least four years and three months before parole eligibility.
