Interest of Justice prosecutors say his voluntary confessions to police form the key evidence. The man was first tried alongside others for the killing in Logan, but the case against him focused on his knowledge of the plan and presence at the bar. Scene. He got off on murder, but pleaded guilty to interfering with the body and served time for that. In late 2022 and early 2023, he confessed twice to officers explaining he'd become a Christian while back in. Jail, and wanted to clear his conscience. He described going to the scene, watching the attack, and even joining in during a struggle. Prosecutors argue the confessions meet the fresh evidence test, and the court just needs to decide if they're compelling enough, even if not absolute.
