I'm Corey, and this is your Pulse of the City. Lester News Today. A 25-year-old man named Ahanonu is on trial for murder at Lester Crown Court. He crashes BMW outside Lester Row and Firmary, then ran up to stranger Nila Patel and attacked her, leading to her death from severe head, injuries. Witness statements were read in court on Monday, March 2nd. They described Patel getting off a bus after spotting the flipped car and smelling fuel. Next later, Shulis Ahanonu sprinted toward her and launched the brutal assault. Eyewitnesses called the scene horrific, with one saying she went down like a ragdoll from repeated punches. Drivers and bus passengers watched in shock as he used both fists and even stamped on her. Hospital security guards rushed in, tackling him off her. A doctor who arrived found Patel bleeding from her nose and ears with a deformed skull from massive force. He stopped breathing soon after and was pronounced dead 46 hours later at Queen's Medical Center and nodding him.
Ahanonu admits manslaughter due to mental health issues, but denies murder. He's also pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, possessing cannabis with intent to supply and biting a police officer during restraint. The trial continues.
