Man Robbed Credit Union with 'Jesus' Weapon

An Anchorage man faces serious robbery charges after holding up a credit union last month, claiming he was armed only with the power and authority of. Jesus, 35-year-old Deschelon Jelkes, walked into Credit Union 1 on Debar Road on February 26, around 5.58 pm, and passed the Teller a Demand note. The note warned of a weapon powered by Jesus Christ and ordered the Teller to load an envelope with cash from the drawer, no alarms. The Teller handed over the money, which included a bait bill with a tracker that silently alerted police. Officers quickly traced the signal to the Costco across the street, where they spotted Jelkes in the same clothes from security footage. A brief confrontation spilled a large pile of cash onto the floor, including the bait bill. During questioning, Jelkes admitted entering the Credit Union and demanding money in Jesus's name, but denied any real weapon or taken the cash.

1:00Despite needing it badly, police noticed his ankle monitor from a prior state charge. A phone search revealed Carl's time to the robbery and signs he was seeking methamphetamine, which he confessed to using now and then.
