Man Rapes, Infects with HIV

0:00On March 5th, a 43-year-old man from near Sunderland has been convicted of raping four men and intentionally infecting seven others with HIV, including one who was just 15 years old. Adam Hall met these young men, mostly in their late teens and early 20s, online or at bars and Newcastle. Despite his HIV diagnosis back in August 2010, he skipped his medication and had unprotected sex without warning them. Prosecutors highlighted how Hall targeted vulnerable guys and ignored the risks, while victims only learned they'd been infected after testing. Positive later on, the Crown Prosecution Service praised their courage in coming forward. The trial lasted 97 days, with jurors deliberating for over 40 hours before delivering verdicts on 15 counts. The judge called it an extraordinarily tough case and excused the jury from future service. Hall remains in custody awaiting sentencing on April 23rd, when he'll also face charges for drug dealing, likely leading to a very long prison.
