Man Questioned in Fayed Trafficking Scandal

On March 27, police have questioned the man in his 60s over claims of human trafficking

and helping with rapes tied to the late Mohammed al-Faheed, the former owner of Herids.

This comes after 154 people reported sexual abuse by Faheed, prompting the Metropolitan

Police to expand their probe.

Earlier this month, officers interviewed the unnamed suspect under caution.

Before that, they spoke with three women in their 40s, 50s, and 60s on similar suspicions,

like aiding rape and sexual assault.

No one has been arrested yet, but the case keeps growing.

Faheed, who died in 2023 at age 94, allegedly used his money and influence to target women

for four decades, including a 13-year-old victim.

Over the past 18 months, police gathered stories from accusers and witnesses, which added

human trafficking to the charges.

Lawyers for the victims pushed officials to widen the investigation, calling it too narrowed

Detectives are now looking at more than five people who might have enabled the abuse,

with several others set for questioning soon.

The scandal also reaches the Ritz Hotel in Paris, which Faheed owned, where French authorities

are probing a trafficking claim involving a former assistant.

As the inquiry presses on, more details could emerge in the months ahead.
