Man Pulls Gun on Deputies, Faces New Charges

Deputies in Charlotte County arrested a man wanted for homicide in Pennsylvania and a burglary in Sarasota after he pulled a gun on them during a traffic stop. Body camera footage captured the tense moment when Brian Houston tried to shoot a deputy who was deploying a taser. Last month, Sheriff's deputies spotted a rental car, matching a description for Sarasota burglary suspects, and pulled it over for a traffic violation. The driver, Amy Lee, and passenger Houston at first refused to exit, but eventually did after warnings of arrest for obstruction. As deputies checked their information, they discovered Lee had recent felony charges and Houston had outstanding warrants, including the Pennsylvania, homicide. That's when Houston resisted violently by drawing his loaded handgun and pulling the trigger at close range. Luckily, the gun did not fire because there was no round in the chamber. He's hit him with more taser probes, causing him to drop the weapon, which they quickly secure to mid his attempts to rack it.
