Man in Custody After 2 Attempted Rapes in Birmingham

0:00On March 27, a 21-year-old man remains in police custody after two attempted rapes in Birmingham City Center, early Friday morning, March, 27. The first attack happened around 12.50 a.m. on Church Street, between Cole Moore Row and Edmund Street. Minutes later, at about 1 a.m., another woman was targeted on nearby New Hall Street. Members of the public stepped in both times, helping one victim get to safety so she could call police and scaring off the attacker in the second. Officers lost a big search and arrested the suspect around 2.40 a.m. on prior Queen's Way with specialist teams now supporting the women, while checking CCTV and witness accounts. Police are asking anyone in the area, including drivers with dashcam footage, to share details to help build the case and keep the streets safer.
