Man Fined £1000 for Dropping Envelope in Bin

Needus Rekovisius says the area was littered with trash-like mattresses and bags, with no clear signs marking it for purple bins only. He filled out the council's questionnaire, which led to the penalty notice, but it's now on hold while they investigate. Officials have invited him for an interview under caution to explain how his addressed envelope ended up in a black bin bag there. This isn't the first such case. A mental health nurse in Feltham got hit with the same 1,000 pound fine for leaving an envelope next to overflowing communal bins. A petition with more than 2,200 signatures called for its cancellation, but the council refused. Meanwhile, during October to December 2025, the council missed 2,080 household waste collections, including 1,253 in December alone. Residents have struggled with unreliable service amid the strict enforcement actions.
