0:00On April 22nd, a 28-year-old man named McCauley Wharton just got convicted on serious charges after a brutal attack on a canal towpath in. Loveboro last year. It went down in the early hours of 30th August 2025 near Belton Road, where he pushed the victim down, punched them repeatedly, raped and sexually assaulted them while trying to strangle them, then stole their phone and wallet before running off. Police jumped on it quick, with the specialist signal team leading the charge and other units pitching in from across Lestershire. They tracked Wharton down on 3rd September, finding him sleeping rough in a tent, just a mile away, since he had no fixed address. After a six-day trial at Lester Crown Court ending Tuesday, 21st of April, he's awaiting sentencing on 12th June, bringing some justice. To this nightmare ordeal.
