Man Charged in Ayahuasca Ritual Death

A 52-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter in the death of 46-year-old Jared Antonovitch during a ritual at the Dreaming Arts Festival. This stems from an incident back on October 17, 2021 at a property near Kielgol in New South Wales, Northern Rivers area. Antonovitch collapsed at the scene after taking part in a ceremony with Ayahuasca and Combo. Parr Metis tried to help, but he passed away there from a perforated esophagus. Ayahuasca is a strong hallucinogen, brewed from South American vines, while Campbell is poisoned from an Amazon tree frog used in cleansing rituals. Both got banned in Australia around that time, with health experts warning of serious risks like severe vomiting, a coronal inquest dug into the case and wrapped up last year. Officials found enough evidence linking the ritual to the death, leading them to refer it for criminal charges. Earlier this week, police arrested the man in Corabell.
