I'm Cory with the story, and this is your Pulse of the City, Birmingham News today. A 26-year-old man from Jefferson County now faces serious charges after deputies caught him trying to steal AT&T cable last month. On March 13th around 2pm, a detective spotted Eric Milwood driving a gold Chevrolet Impala near the 1400 block of warrior. Jasper Road, close to some downed cable lines. Recent thefts in the area had everyone on high alert, so the detective turned around to check it out, and Milwood sped off, leading to a short search. Before deputies pulled him over on U.S. Highway 78, inside the car, they found an electric cutting tool along with other burglary gear tying him to first degree theft of property, criminal mischief, and possession of burglary tools. Milwood posted $11,000 in bond and got out of jail, but authorities say they're keeping a close watch to stop more cable grabs like this one.
