Wins last week, the seven foot center from Georgetown scored eight points and grabbed eleven rebounds with two blocks in a road victory over South Carolina. Then he added eleven points, six rebounds and five assists in a blowout against Ranked Vanderbilt, all in 27 minutes per game. His shooting stood out too, hitting six of eleven shots from the field and seven of eight free throws across those games. That Vanderbilt performance put him in rare company with shy Gilgis, Alexander, as the only wildcat with that stat line of at least eleven points. Six rebounds and five assists in multiple conference games. Fans and teammates are buzzing about Marano's quick rise as a rookie starter. He's the third Kentucky player to get a weekly southeastern conference honor this season, following senior guard Otega Owe, who won player of the week. Twice already.
