Hey, Bay Area. Good morning coffee. Please wake up with Sarah and Vinnie. Every morning on Alice 973. Hey, a test Alice 973. Sarah and Vinnie Alice's morning show. Hello Tuesday. How are you? You're talking to me? Oh, I'm really, really, I'm great. How are you? I'm great. Are you? Yeah. Good. Oh, good. Yeah. Why wouldn't I be? I don't know. All right. That's great. I'm glad to hear it. Yeah. So listen. All right. Do you have something for me? No, you want to tell me? Not, not tell me everything. No, no. There's nothing. There was something you were about to say. No, no, well, I have things to say. But I know it none of the is important. It's all just chitchat. Go ahead. What have you got? I'm reading this book right now. Yeah. And they're talking about, so this is the latest Dan Brown book. Oh,
it's called the secret of secrets. Okay. Uh, and it is. So he's this guy. We know him from the Da Vinci code. He's this symbologist guy. Yeah. Fancy's himself the, I don't know, a dorky or Indiana Jones. If there could be such a thing. Anyway, in this latest story, it's not really about him. This girl, this woman, sorry that he's dating. This is Robert Langdon, the character in the book. Okay. So it's another one is a brain. She's studying consciousness and brain waves and all this stuff, right? And all this stuff they claim in the beginning of the book is real and true. And this guy researches all this stuff and puts it out there. Okay. Okay. And so I'm listening. I'm reading this book and I'm, I'm absolutely looking at this new kind of, let me go back a step. I have a friend that was hit by a car and he got a brain injury. And I
remember the being in the last day, he was forever changed. He's still to this day. He's fine and he's got a kids and a wife and he's living a great life, but it was heavy. And you find out while he's in the brain ward that we don't know. Like, yeah, literally the doctor goes, I don't know. We don't know enough about the brain to know what this recovery will be like. Right. And you just kind of go, oh my gosh, when your doctor doesn't know, right? Yeah. Okay. So I'm coming from that background when I'm reading this story and in the story, they talk about this consciousness and how there's a possibility that our brains are just receivers. And in most situations, there's this for our own protection, there's something called GABA that keeps, it's almost like a dial that tunes in radio stations and it focuses what's coming into you. Okay. So that you're not,
for example, they say someone who might be hearing voices, has less GABA and is getting all kinds of input. Okay. Is any of that makes sense? Okay. It's kind of tricky. It's really cookie. And I'm just trying to say that in the end, I'm reading this book that is just for lack of a better word, it's blowing my mind. Like, and they're talking about LSD and these drugs that they're all experimental right now is they're trying and they're using VR as well to try and find ways to open our minds to a greater consciousness and they seem to be doing it. And they're doing that. Like, you've heard about these studies with LSD and they're really happening. Like one of the reasons I'm bringing it up is I've got a story in front of me about that very thing. Psychedelics reveal a true or version of reality research. Yeah. Suggest it's like our brains protect us from seeing anyway. I don't know that I believe it all,
but if you're interested in just sort of this the next kind of thing they're talking about. Yeah. This is it. And it was it's crazy. Like they're talking in the book. They're talking about how governments around the world are studying this as the next thing. Oh, maybe the next technology. Poshulating that this is all true. This is what we're doing. All true. The CIA is up to this. Like it's it's really so the book is called The Secret of Secrets. It's another damn brown book. I'm in the middle of it. I'm absolutely like caught in this little world right now. You know, I liked the last I think the last one I read was the one with the AI. The origins. Yeah. There was one I think in between where I feel like I fell off it because I he was like in Florence and it was just I mean, it was like, okay, so you're writing about all these art pieces at length to write off your trip to Florence, I guess. I don't know. I know what you mean. Sometimes
do you remember that one? And I was like, maybe about too much population or something. He always takes on that was another example of like a popular ideas that are out there in the world. We've certainly overpopulated the planet. And in that case, the guy was going to fix it. The bad guy did finish it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He was like, I'm going to go ahead and take the population level down. I'll fix this for us. Yeah. I might have finished. I'm actually I'm not saying there for everybody. And I may have just done a terrible job explaining it. But I because of my experience with my friend, I'm really interested in how little we know about the brand and the study of it. I'm wondering about Neuralink. Yeah. That's mentioned in the book. I want to hear. Elon's thing. And I didn't know this in the book. It says when he when they planted that chip and I think the guy was quadriplegic. Yes. And he was able to get some function back. It worked for like
a hundred days. And then it didn't. And that's why we don't hear about it anymore. Oh, because something in the brain connecting to the chip or something. Yeah. Basically. So they're continuing to do the research. But it's we never really heard that it was over. I'm all for it when I get older. Chip me up. Yeah. Yeah. You can make me not mean Alzheimer's and dementia, which I'm sure I'll get because of my lifestyle in the past. I will take the chip. Give it to me. Well, they're working on that, buddy. Give it to me based on what I'm reading. And the fact that they're putting that out there as truth. The studies are on. And drugs are part of it, which is really strange. But they even date. They recall like Timothy Larry. Yeah. Is it oh, Larry? Larry Larry. Larry. They're saying that's a guy who was absolutely clued into this greater consciousness and the using these drugs to lower your GABA level and bring on a fuller picture
of reality. And it just sounds kooky because you're like, oh, you hippies. But they're studying that right now. Yeah. I mean, when you go outside into nature and you're on that and you're tripping, it's like you can see like it just feels like the leaves and things are more alive. Like there's this. Yeah. There's another Bible for sure, but they're breathing and talking to you. Yeah, bro. Can't will you like honestly for me is just my experience. It's too exhausting. That's I think like as I'm as I'm reading this story, I'm thinking your brain does have to protect you from reality. If that's reality, because after 10 hours of that, you're like, I just want to not see all this stuff anymore. I want to go to bed. I want to be done. This is enough already. It's so colorful. It's all pulsing. Make it stop. So I don't know. Anyway, sorry, I didn't mean to get us too far down that road. But that's where I'm living right now. Is there any touching on one of the things? There's this book Ready Player One that you and I read and we liked
and I read Ready Player Two as well. And I think you did. I did too. And in the end, they are, they find a way to map the human brain. And so they can like download a copy of your consciousness. And so after you die, you can, your consciousness digitally lives on in this oasis, which if you've read Ready Player One, you know is sort of the, it's the big game, the big virtual reality that everybody lives on on earth. It's in the inner webs and you have, you exist there as well. And another example of this like next level. And I'm wondering if they touched on that at all. Like how great would it be if you could keep your consciousness? And, you know, they were putting it into droids. They're, you know, sending them off into space. Like it was, it was phenomenal. I just got on their way. But as they're talking about the, the improved technology, this woman who wrote this book is saying, well, that's not possible. And then they find out the government's far beyond what she believes is possible. Oh, I can't wait.
That's great. Thank you for telling me. I don't know if it's a book you want to read. But I, it's definitely like they have a lab. They're working on it in Prague. I love it. It's creepy, but also as a book, super fun. And there must be a mystery and some peril and well, the government does not want this project. No. And I don't know that it's even true. They're saying it's true, but I don't. Could it be? Could be. It's fun. Anyway, that's one of the things I like about the Dan Brown stuff is it makes you, you know, and some people write them off. They caught, you know, like a, it's that it's pulp fiction or that it's, you know, whatever. But I really like somebody who does a lot of research for a book, not necessarily the whole like every piece of art in every museum and Florence. I was not into that history of the world. Right. But I love when someone has clearly done some research and is presenting things in a story form. That's why I like, historical fiction because you're getting like the real setting and, you know, an imagined
life imagined story overlaid by the reality of what happened at a certain time. I love that. I think he says in one of one of the stories I've read. He says the worst thing, the best thing that ever happened at the Da Vinci code was when the Catholic church said we do not condone this book. And all of a sudden, sales went through the, like, that's kind of funny. Too many truths they don't want to look directly at. I should go back and read that. That's again, that's a, uh, I remember being like, whoa, that's what makes an awful lot of sense. A lot, a lot more sense. Anyway, we should start. We should. But that was fun. I don't know if it was. I love books so much. They're just such a, such a great escape. I get so sad when I end a book that I, that I really enjoyed. Agreed. K LLC, K LLC HD one San Francisco, Sarah and Vinnie Alice's morning show. We're going to hold on. I got to start a song here. And then I got a death to report. And then I think
we'll eat some headlines. I have a bunch of stuff piling up to get that off our plates on Alice.
