On April 27th, a notorious fraudster named Carl Cronin just met a tragic end in West London. He fell from a second story window on King's Road in Chelsea during the early hours of Easter Monday and die from his injuries. Police say there's no sign of anyone else being involved. Cronin had been on the run for years, wanted by the Met over a massive property scam that ripped off landlords in Chelsea in Fulham for more than 5 million pounds back in the early 2000s. He even popped up in a 2008 episode of BBC's Crime Watch as cops hunted him down. Folks who knew him have mixed feelings. One friend called him a ruthless con artist who wrecked lives without a second thought and said plenty of people feel like justice was served. Another painted him as a charming rogue, like a character from old TV shows. He'd slip back into London somehow, renting an apartment since last November after flying into Heathrow. Cronin was also tied to a 2017 fraud case where a model and her mom got jailed for 5 years each after scamming an elderly arous, out of over 1 million pounds on a 3 million pound
house in Kensington. Police are still digging into exactly what happened, with whispers from those close to him insisting it wasn't suicide, he had too many enemies for. Whatever the truth, this chapter on one of London's slipperyest crooks is finally closed.
