Lizardmen History Pt2 | Warhammer Old World Lore
About this episode
In our Warhammer Old World lore dive episode 89, we explore the Lizardmen’s Age of Isolation, when the survivors of the Great Catastrophe struggled to rebuild a civilisation whose original purpose was slowly being forgotten. As the Slann retreated into centuries of contemplation, Skink priests governed the temple-cities, ancient technology became sacred ritual, and the vanished Old Ones became gods. We follow the bloody first encounter with the High Elves, the sinking of Chupayotl and isolation of the Southlands, and the first signs that even Slann memories were beginning to fail. Finally, Lord Quex’s geomantic realignment unleashes the Dwarfs’ Time of Woes, topples Skytitan strongholds, breaches Cathay’s Great Bastion and helps scatter the Skaven across the world— catastrophic lab failure or exactly what the Old Ones intended?

Hello and welcome to another episode of Lane Down the Lower of the Old World. A more podcast in which we aim to celebrate our dragons from our dry ants, our griffins from our goblins, the shaking head ground, and our wood gels from our wood elves. And generally ask, what's up with this Warhammer stuff? My name is Ben Crombarber, while I used to know pretty much fuck all about Warhammer, I now know very little. With me is my co-host Christopher Crowlin, Alan, Hi there, hello. Who despite years of allian effort still knows next to nothing. Mm-hmm. I'm my dear brother, Darren. Good morning, we're totally not gonna make fun of Ben for saying, do lay-at. Keep going. You know so much about Warhammer, it's frankly disturbing. After an abysmal attempt to play in Vermont, I've many moons ago, this dichot's moon to in our levels of understanding became clear. And this serious series, this serious is an attempt to address our three ads, Dreads, Dryads. You said
the lyads. You used an L instead of an R. And you know this has been, that's a textbook example of gas lying because you said it fine. Gas lying does exist. I invented it. What? I will aggressively defend your right to believe that that's the thing. He gaslighted. Gaslighted the boy. Yeah. Dark, very smart this morning. Thanks a lot. Yeah. Is there a legal age for cardigans? I think I'm not sure. Yeah, I'm not sure of the exact legal age, but I'm pretty sure it's in my rear view mirror. Yeah, you look too good in a cardigan. You need a pipe. Yeah, the budget would spring for an official land on Lord pipe. Oh, hundreds. I reckon if you were to ask Moody's, I probably make you one.
It probably would actually. Expert, Carp. You're a little like you're about to lean against the, the, the fireplace and sing little drama boys. I'm a pump, pump, pump, pump. I'm gonna live against one. Yeah. It's a little more of it. I need an additional gravitas junkie gravitas and this answers. If you need more of it, you probably don't need it at all. Oh, don't you mind. Sorry, Crowley, you know what I miss. Hello, Franklin. It's time for... One time we care. LAUGHTER LAUGHTER I feel like this is going to be a good one. Help me. Oh, God. The high expectations are doing my best. LAUGHTER At the website, episode 8. Hey, Lizard Man History. The old ones.
The best in the year. Yeah, the best number to see in a Jordy accent. Hello, Jordies. Irish accent. More than Irish. Yeah. Maybe both. Maybe both, actually. It's too aggressive. Northern Ireland is too aggressive. Irish is too aggressive. Tell episode number 88. Lizard Man History. Um, Darren showed us, taught us, presented to us. We spoke about the old ones, arrival in Itza, the first temple city, and created the reptilian amphibious... reptilian anemphibious... Oh, shit. The old world, yeah. To an act. The mysterious, great plan. Uhhhh. Yeah, everybody. Uhhhh. I love this mysterious voice. It's always as good as it is for you. Uhhhh. It's our cast, it's a little bit... Little bit pervy. Yeah. You'll be great in horror movie. Oh, it's got a knife. Uhhhh. LAUGHTER Yeah, a really deflate, carry-in dream of the murder. Yeah.
He does look at that. Like Kenneth Williams, how you mentioned it. Who does, yeah. I do. I do. Um, carry-in the question. We also recapped at Shut Up Ben. Yeah, shut up. The public race band. Ben connected the fated place to the realm of Ben, realm of chaos. Um, the subsequent destruction of the polar gates, which was the planet in chaos energy, and fun times, and sued. Uh, Nakhai, the wanderer, the legendary cross-agore, and living weapon of the old ones, earned a fierce reputation that even demons came to fear his feats and accomplishments. Commemoration skinks. Thanks for being here. The Lizard Men's stealth specialists able to blend seamlessly into their surroundings to scout, spy, and assassinate. Uhhhh. And Lord Krug. I want to get in now. People are broke. Crower. Because he's dead. Croke, and he's a frog. Yeah. It works both ways. God, Warhammer, you're so stupid. Get you a frog that can do both.
Yep. Right. The ancient slant who refused to truly die remains an undead, mummified husk whose magical power is so immense, he's still. They are still one of the greatest spellcasters in Barren's opinion. I bet he has a cardigan. Oh, I bet he has a several on at the same time. Yes, single cardigans. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So many plaques. He's like Mr. T. We should do a model of Mr. Krug. Mr. K, with loads of full complex. There's a bit of a kind of 4K emperor vibe about this guy's name. He's kind of dead, super magician. Oh, what a hidden insight. Yeah, there you go. The emperor is in fact a brain frog. Mm-hmm. You're welcome. It'd be less weird than a giant handsome man. Get away, you think me. But it could be good, isn't it? Because the emperor makes people see whatever he wants them
to see that he looks like. So yeah, I feel we have to do a special expose episode now. Maybe for episode 100 is Lord Krug, the emperor. Yeah, conspiracy series of Warhammer. Yeah, picking up from, um, where crowds introduction, we're going to look at what's referred to as the age of isolation for the lizard people. So after the great vortex had done its job when the demons vanished, the surviving lizard men came out from the kind of shattered temple cities into the scarred and kind of smoking remnants of lustria, which they, if you recall, had already turned into a living weapon in terms of the fecundity and ferocity of the jungle. Entire cities had been lost. Many sacred plaques were missing or damaged. And much of the kind of geomantic web had been broken.
Nevertheless, the slant order of kind of reconstruction to begin of pretty much everything so that it could all be restored back to the kind of sacred level that the old ones had left at that. Rebuilding was not treated as kind of refounding or founding of a new society, but as an attempt to return the world to the kind of arrangement intended by the old ones. So pyramids, plazas, spawning poles, kind of sacred precincts, roads were all reconstructed wherever surviving plans or ruins allowed. Because the old ones had left, it was true that even if the purpose was no longer known or fully understood, the structures were rebuilt as they had been. The slant, the brain toads, from the second generation on, so the first generation had been completely killed, wiped out,
and the only remnant was the emperor, a big part of Lord Croke, who spirit was still clinging to his froggy skeleton. They had lost much of their knowledge with the death of the first generation of slant. They increasingly retreated into this kind of communal trances lasting for like years or centuries or weeks where they talked to each other and turned it not an end of list, kind of meditating on incomplete plaques and debating on how the great plan should be continued in a world that had now catastrophically departed from its intended order. Into this, the skinks really stepped up and assumed kind of everyday governance roles. So as the pace of slant activity and interaction slowed, skink priests and administrators became the kind of practical leaders
of the temple cities. They supervised the construction or reconstruction. They organized labor, they cleared jungles from roads, maintained food production, and interpreted the, how did you describe it? Often fragmentary remnants of information or instructions issued by the kind of distant slant mage priests. And before we get to crowd, image one is a skink priest bedecked in ritual armor and or artifacts of the old ones, Mr. Kraus. He's having a great time on his surfboard of snakes and surfants there. Me! Wild, great image. Whilst the lizard people, slant were ruminating, drinking ayahuasca root
and smoking opium and the ruins of life. Joining the minus viewer, yes. Yeah. And in the post polar gates destructive world, which has fallen apart and stuff, did any of them at all go? Maybe we're worshiping the wrong gods here. Maybe the old ones aren't all the... Oh, it's a great question. I think if they did, they kept it very much to themselves because they are creations of the old ones. Who to some extent, the spirit of the old ones still exists and we'll cover that when we look at the spawnings. So the kind of spawning of individual kind of skink in Sorus, Crocogor, cohorts, like the group, the mass spawnings, they can be sponsored by the kind of favorable aspect of an old one. So there's still some influence there, some metaphysical influence.
And as Ben Tommy recently, he never met a physical, he didn't like. So the lizard men remained magically and materially formidable. Yet the civilization had gradually lost the living understanding that had once united their society and science and engineering and even the kind of rituals that they had. Old ones, devices were collected and protected, defended. And other words, that mean the same thing. As sacred relics now, so they'd moved from functional items to sacred kind of relic status, much like technology in the Imperium of Man in 4K. Very similar vibes here. The procedures however for that at once been technical operations became inherited ceremonies
and the kind of true engineering understanding of the mechanisms were long forgotten. So if we have a look at image two, that is an engine of the gods. Yikes. Yeah. Wow. Must be on a gyroscopic. How do you keep level? There's a crawling dinosaur there that kind of gives you. Engine of a giant gyrosaur. Because of the gyroscope, he can only run in a straight line. If he tries to move left or right, he just, whoa. Yeah. Wow. Okay. So what is going on there? There's a lot going on there. So that is a, what's referred to as an engine of the gods, it is a war machine that is available to you in the war machine that's available to you in the lizard man armies, although it's usually found on the back of a stegodon,
think kind of squat triceratops. So this is just a conversion, just, it's amazing. But conversion, it would have the same mechanism in the game. Depending on the addition, it is part battle standard, part laser beam, part telepor engine and kind of magical bond. And a little bit dinosaur. And then it's a little bit scaly. I knew there was going to be a laser in Paul. So it just has laser vibes, but it doesn't. Yes. So it's around this time that the old ones, move from kind of transcended beings to being considered gods. And the, you know, the vanished old ones passed from this kind of master role they had to almost define pantheon, skinks called upon them in times of need
and increasingly employed blood sacrifice to attract their attention. I love that they went straight to that. There was no like, I'm just going to leave like a, a boiled egg out. Yeah. Straight to blood sacrifice. Yeah. Right to the, right to the jugular skip the four plates. Yeah. Yeah. So while this, but also this kind of cultural memory influenced what the old ones came to represent because some of them then became associated with a specific aspect of society, like war or strength, destiny, protection and other qualities that they were able to glean from the damaged glyph sequences of the plaques. I don't know why I said it like that. The spawnings of Sorus, Skink and Croxador, Croxador continued. The temple cities endured and Sland still possessed power unmatched by the younger races.
And the beginning of this age was defined instead of collection and combat against chaos by isolation and separation. Lustria was cut off from the younger races and the age about your pardon. And the Sland became distant even from their own servants. So you had this very much like the period of isolation that Japan went through. A kind of withdrawal from the world while it kind of reestablished what it was. Though each passing century then made it the original meaning of the Great Plan harder to recover. So that's within the few centuries after the establishment of the Great Vortex. The high elves then didn't arrive in Lustria until about 4,400 BS. The embassy led by Captain Beltharius landed on the Itzmus of Poachs.
If we get up image five we're hopping ahead a little. There we go. That's the map. Yeah. So Poachs is at the very tip, tip, top tip of the map. So you can see it's in the Itzmus, Itzmus, Itzmus. It's the city of Ash. Yeah, we go. It's not the city of Ash. No relation. That's just down the road. Sorry, free you going. Can I just ask, is there an official name for the period of time between the Policates collapsing and the Vortex starting where it was all in to the K.O.C.? Yeah, it's just the tail end of that kind of K.O.C. Encouraging. Right, I'm coming. This was the first time that the High Elves were known to have entered Lustria after the Great Catastrophe and were eventually brought before. Now here we go. Who in it? It, and who in it?
Ten. Usually. Who in it? Doubtually. Harvey. Wow. They were brought before Lord Harvey. Let me tell you, going with lizard men when you've got dyslexia, it's a bold choice. It's a lot of nicknames. A lot of nicknames. Hey you, you guy, you king-y dude. Yeah. So the relax was a deeply holy place but still very much wounded from the collapse. It had been devastated during the demonic invasion when a failed ritual aged much of the city by thousands of years in a moment resulting in much of the inhabitants being turned directly into ash. And so ash covered the entire thing. So there's this kind of grey white patina across the whole of the temple city.
It's surviving pyramids, nevertheless endured and the city would repeatedly be lost and refounded over the coming centuries as you do. As you do. Where's that city gone? Where have I left it? Yeah, maybe it's down the back. Who in town, Chilli? Horton Chilli. Seen here an image three. Whoa. That's a whole lot of flow. That's a barriam benedorn, don't it? Yeah. Oh, you guys have a foster love. Lads, lads, lads, lads. You can tell he overpannons is his bees because he saw that. Oh, I thought you should be yourself. You deal with it. Yeah. One wapothin skink. He barely acknowledged the high elves when they arrived and also the single sentence.
The eldest skink priest interpreted his words as they should not be here. So a statement that may have been taken as condemning the elves personally for arriving or they should not be here. They should be over there or their general presence in lustria or the place assigned to them within the great plan as the race as a whole. Who knows? We can't know. To quote a great podcast, we can't know. The high elves sensing the Soros kind of tensing up at this declaration, drew their weapons and the temple guard attacked. These are the elite Soros warriors, only a small number of escapes to return to Ulthuin and warn the Phoenix King against provoking the lizard men. Establishing hostility and incomprehension between the two peoples, both of whom had played essential roles in surviving the Great catastrophe.
And if we have a look at image for here, this is a representative image of elves in the jungle. It's just elves against the green screen and you just put the jungle behind them. Do another one with New York City skyline. I was on tour. So this encounter was happened while the high elves, the Azure, I suppose, were becoming the foremost seafaring power of the younger races. And so while their mages had served and saved the world through the great ritual, the receptioner, Pawek, showed that elder servants of the old ones did not necessarily recognize the elves in achievements as granting them a rightful place in lust. Too fucking right. I'm loving the elf hate here. Keep it coming down. Yeah.
I'm sure I speak for all of our listeners, Kral, when I say fuck you. Not the ones that don't speak English, although why would they be listening? They're just watching it for Kral because he's eye candy. I want two things to happen right now. I want Kral to put the sexy face and I want Frodo to zoom in. Give him the full screen. Go. There you go. Love it. Smolder. Take it off. Take it off. Get the lack of hair. Just slow you down. You're more aerodynamic. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know what that meant. I don't know what that meant. Aerodynamic like a fist. Don't let me design cars. So we're going to move forward 700 years mostly because all the slam were asleep. Sleepy slide. Yeah. Yeah.
And we're going to talk about the sinking like vampires in the day, Darren. Yeah. Right. Still not like that one girl. We should start a rival channel called Warhammer is dumb. We're going to talk about Atlantis or Slanlantis as I'm no a coin. Nice. The sinking of Chupetol. Chupet. Chupant. Chupant. Chupant. Chupant. Chupyawful. We're going to go down the coast. Down the coast. Down the coast. The coast. We would consider the Atlantic coast. Tripotli city. There we go. This formed one of the city itself formed one of the most important surviving junctions within
the Atlantic. Through it, the slant of Austria could maintain direct communion with Slatland and other distant city temples in the south lands across the Great Ocean. So it was like the huge telecommunications cable that crosses the Atlantic. Oh, yeah. Cool. It's decline had begun during the Wars of Chaos when the Great Catastrophe washed over the world. The city very slowly began sinking into the sea. Yeah. Like an ill-prepared souffle. Like a middle-aged slant. Like a middle-aged slant. Slant. How dare you call me middle-aged. How dare you call me a Scottsman. Just how dare you. The plan contemplated whether this kind of decline, this literal decline and movement was
part of the Great Plan. The consequences of damage to the world or an error in earlier, geometric realignments, but no consensus was reached before the crisis became irreversible. On the eve of a significant celestial alignment, a tremendous earthquake struck the eastern coast of Austria and the oceans withdrew until they exposed sea-beds stretched towards the horizon, leaving immense kind of aquatic primordial Leviathan's and behemoths, thrashing the sea-beds on the steaming mud, hot, and that had not seen sunlight since the reordering of the world. If we have a look at image sex, here is a representation of a city beginning to decline. Pause there. I need the toilet. No, I'm going to keep going. Recognizing the warning, the priesthood announced that a chupyothal must be abandoned.
So the temple guard entered the sacred precincts to rouse the meditating sland, the mage priest, and disinterred the mummified relic priests, carrying palakwins and revered remains from the city even when the sland would have preferred to remain in and contemplate the event. Home bodies, that's what the sland are, really. Once the waters had drawn back, they surged back towards the coast as a tsunami. Hundreds of, there's a tsunami-sounding effect. Hundreds of yards high. The way of blotted out the sun and crashed across the city and drove miles into the jungle, flattening the settlements and vegetation and much of the population before dragging the golden city into the depths. Frodo, can we please put in a huge, thunderous waterfall-style sound effect that matches both when Ben flushed the toilet and when we said the thing about the way of coming back?
Although the evacuation, although the evacuation and maybe some kind of laser beams, and although the evacuation began before the impact, the sland of a chupyothal were dashed against the ruins of their own cities, much like a frog thrown against a ruined city. Thousands of inhabitants were swept away while survivors made for the remaining temple cities, carrying relics and records they had to be able to preserve. The city came to rest in the depths of a lightless trench, far below the turbulent sea. If you have a look at Image 7, here's a representation of illustrious, turbulent seas. But choppy, yeah. Later stories described that it's kind of gold-lined temples standing amid pale predators with glowing eyes and enormous mouths. While sailors whispered that an unknown kind of undersea civilization had occupied the abandoned ruins.
So those kind of accounts speak of webbed claws, black eyes, nocturnal creatures that rise from the seas to kind of grow the unwary and drag them to their depths. Exactly right. The identity of hot, the identity of these beings is never established, but it's assumed to be the surviving lizard people of chupyothal. The result of this catastrophe was the, I'm very con-hand gestory recently. Justically power-wringers. The destruction of such an important nexus, communication nexus within the geometric web, really had a devastating effect on the magical connection between lustre and the southlands. The distant mage priesthood survived the great catastrophe, could no longer join in the same kind of meditative communion, and thus left to interpret and pursue the great plan without guidance from Is-Itza, the first city, or the principal kind of lustre and cities.
So now we're saying that the lizard man empire is cleft in twain. So there are no two distinct lizard man cultures, both sort of interpreting the great plan as best they can. Mr. Crow. Both based in lustre, or are we talking about the separation of lustre and the southlands? Yeah, it's the southlands. So if we have a look at image eight, that is an image, a map of the southlands. Ben is a map of the southlands, mate. So you can see the city of Slatland. Slatland? Slatland. Yeah. Slatland. That was the other end of that geometric communications cable. And once Troopay author was gone, there was no connection, no stable connection between the southlands and, what should we call it? Lustre.
You know, their separate development really explains now why the southlands, lizard men, preserve the same kind of basic civilization, while becoming increasingly remote and self-directed. So as not being part of a larger lizard man empire. Two things. First of all, shout out to cleft in twain. Haven't heard that in a while. Great phrase. Secondly, that skink in that map is fucking massive. Not to scale? Oh, okay. Just going to say. Yeah, friend. He's photobombing. Oh, man. These cartography bombing is such a great idea. Here's a map of Europe. What's Tasmania doing in the corner? Yeah. So the collapsing nexus around Troopay author release kind of uncontrolled magical energy across its formate territories.
Lord Mazda Mundi, who will cover in great detail later on. Not this episode, but later on in series. Mazda Mundi contained the worst effects of the collapse. By raising and positioning kind of carved stairway and monuments. But the region became something known as the fire bogs. So if you have a look again at image five, you can see where Troopay author is. You can see the coast around it on the mainland is now the fire bogs, which is very much like the weird forest from the princess bride or the day after an Indian. Nice. We'll just move on from that. Yeah. So yes, it's an entire region where kind of wild magical fire geasers erupt amongst scorching ruins and mutated beasts.
And is the breeding ground now of a type of war beast will cover later on called a salamander. Every time I say later on, I mean in a different episode. The big takeaway from this apart from the complete severing or bifurcating of the Lizerman empire was that no known plaque or prophecy had clearly foretold the destruction. So for the first time, the slant experienced something akin to uncertainty and self doubt. And either the old ones had intended the deaths and destruction. But the surviving records were incomprehensible or incomplete. Or the mage priest themselves had introduced tiny errors into the plaques when they're created whose effects had kind of grown across the millennia. And the butterfly effect although the butterfly is a lizard.
And the tarot. Yeah, Tara. No, that's a falcon. What am I doing? What am I doing? What am I doing? And the cardigan speaking. Yes, the cardigan speaking. Sorry. Can you hear you over your cardigan? My formal cardigan, my formal business cardigan. Should be able to therefore became more than a lost city. It was evidence that the ordered mechanisms of the great plans could decay. That geomantic adjustments, as we'll see later in this episode, might have unintended consequences and that the slant might be preserving only an imperfect interpretation of a design that they no longer fully understand. This episode is a secret and perhaps not so secret damning indictment of religion. Well, are they the question of the lizard and dogma of dogma? Are they are they starting to question the the great plan?
Is that what they're at? I think they're questioning their interpretations of the great plan. The certainty has gone. They believe in the great plan, but they're like, have we interpreted it wrong? Yes. It's not that the old ones are at fault. It's we're at fault. No, no, no, no, no, never. No, never. And it was there was there understanding of it or their belief in it to begin with like it, that it had taken account for every possible event that would ever happen. Yes. It was like a very, very high resolution roadmap or did they think, okay, it's God's view on the end goal and there are maybe milestones, but there's all manner of things that can happen kind of along the way. No, it was high resolution. No, it was high resolution wasn't. My reading of the whole thing around the great plan is that it was an incredibly high resolution detailed roadmap of how to get from the starting point to
whatever the old ones wanted it to be at the end. And when chaos came in and kicked everyone's ass, they lost the, they lost the, they lost the table of contents. Right. So they're not tired. They still have the, they still have the roadmap, but they're, they're not entirely sure of what each symbol means or if there's a gap. Or what order bets go in exactly right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. That's M confusion by the way, that's the, that's the international time of confusion. Well, and this then is further compounded by the kind of slow failure of slam memory and skinkscribes that it's a begin to record that I kind of fog has descended. And upon the once clear thoughts of Lord Zleck, Zleck, and that he was suffering an impairment of memory.
It's a very brief single entry, but this sort of loss of focus loss of memory carries exceptional danger. The slant authority rested not only upon their magical might see image nine here of a, a slant steps concert. But also on their, their own memory of the old ones. And celestial calculations and the proper interpretation of plaques. A mage priest who forgot the context of an instruction might still possess power sufficient to move mountains while no longer remembering why, when or how that power should be employed. So the roadmap again, the roadmap analogy been that was excellent. Right. The written records could not fully replace living memory because it was also incomplete. So you had the fading memory of the slant and the incomplete and impartially destroyed remnants of the great plaques, the golden plaques, and meant that a huge burden was translated.
Or sorry, a huge burden then placed on the slant recollection, which as I said was beginning to fade. The kind of mutually supporting sources of authority, the experience, the living experience of the slans, memories of the old ones and the golden plaques began to fail at the same time, which meant that the, the kind of bedrock of lizard man society was flopping around like a fish at sushi. And that chaos was loving that. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I suspect that Zinch went down to slanesh's palace for a good time. Mr. Crow. You just write that shit down, wouldn't you? You know, it's going to touch the old dementia little memory. Maybe we should write some shit down, want to remind him, but also to give us some guidance. Yeah, you know, more something, something more solid than these goddamn fucking plaques, which we seem to just be obsessed over, but can't make heads nor tails out of them.
What about that? Why don't we just write down a letter? I love the idea of skink caros coming into these kind of gold like beings. Hello, how are you today? Did you sleep okay? Who are you? It's all right. I'm here just to change your bed pan. Yeah. And this was then compounded further by the pride of the slan. And an example here is the debate of Lord, and where five centuries of argumentation ended without agreement. Lord, why, why of an unproducible city, pause for processing, slan, why peck, oh, slan, why peck? Straight forward. And to clear to himself the victor in a debate that had continued for five centuries over what should be done about the younger races.
Who would have wanted to do ironically. So this duration, who had who themselves had their own carers. Yeah. Yeah. The duration was extraordinary for the kind of skink attendance and mortals, but reflects the scale, which the slan consider questions of species, continents, and the ultimate completion of the great plan. Mr. Crowell. How long did that debate last? It was 500 years. Do you know what kind of epoch that was in and what happened like in the rest of the world, whilst they were having a 500 year argument? This was during the kind of reconstruction and died. So we're talking around 2700 BS. So we're looking at, you know, the high-off culture is booming, dwarven cultures booming, or trusteele orking.
Kathy, I think is beginning to come to the fore. And the first kind of human tribes are maybe in Nicarra. Yeah. So it's during an explosion of human growth, which sounds gross and probably is. The issue that he declared himself the victor in is whether elves dwarves a mankind remained necessary parts of the old ones designs. Interesting. Or had they strayed beyond their intended places, or should they be restrained or relocated or destroyed in the interests of cosmic order? Again, we're remembering that this is the incomplete interpretation of what cosmic order means to the lizard men culture now. Was allying ever a consideration during this argument? No, there's a huge arrogance to the slans kind of understanding of every other being in the world.
Because he had ended the argument just by declaring himself the victor, no other slan in the entire lizard man culture spoke to Hwawa for a thousand years. They sent him to Coventry for a thousand years. Hattie. Yeah. So that response obviously then kind of reflects that his actions were regarded as improper or premature and demonstrates that even the rulers of the lizard men could employ withdrawal and refusal of communication between themselves, not just between their empire and the wider world. We can be petty just as much as everybody else. We can just as much as everyone else. Absolutely right. Yeah. And around the year 2000, there was an incident between the in Southlands who were back at Mac, back at image eight.
Between a slatland and carrot zorn, a kind of legendary forgotten dwarven hold, which is right at the tibetit top tip middle of the Mac, you'll see just carrot zorn written there. And it's recorded within dwarf histories that it was the birthplace of the ancestor gods and a point from which their long migration northward began. Some maps within the carrot encor place it in kind of conflicting locations because they lost all track of it. And the later dwarfs could not determine whether it still survived or if it had actually ever existed, though it had because it's on that map. And the date of this kind of recorded conflict between the lizard men and the dwarves of carrot zorn happens around about the same time as the great betrayal of the high elves by Malachiff or sorry, the great betrayal of the high elves and the dwarves again caused by the treachery of Malachiff.
So even as that was happening, the dwarves were starting to lose their kind of ancestral hold and recorded only in the long history and failing memories of the slan. Obviously with it being 2000 BS kind of the early migration of humans is happening, so we're starting to see Tilia and Estalia, the human being populated the human tribes coming up through the border princes into the old world or into the empire and kind of moving on from there, which will eventually swing around to both Bertonia and his left. So this is where we start getting into pre recorded history of the humans, I suppose, in terms of their written records. I want to close out with a fairly staggering three hour expose on Lord Quacks and the realignment of the continent.
So it will be interesting to see your reactions to this, so Lord Quacks are that continents required adjustment, so we're 15,000 BS or sorry 1500 BS. And it's required adjustment in accordance with the plaques of obsolete potec and a disagreement escalated around this kind of position that you take until magical pressure gathered over the temple cities and lightning art from pyramid tops and be sub jungles kind of reacted in terror as until Quacks as well ultimately prevail. Drawing a pen upon the kind of immense reservoirs that he had damned up within the geometric web Quacks enacted what the slant considered a minor realignment of the continents. This was a precise maintenance or adjustment like a chiropractor snapping the spine of an old woman and of a kind of planetary order established by the old ones, but to the younger races, this was a significant movement of tectonic plates and upheaval.
And becoming what would be known in many cultures as the time of wars and the realignment was not harmless to the lizard man either at it's a the great temple beneath Lord it's all it's all lock and collapsed killing the mage priest and sending kind of a violent shock through the kind of meditative sublime communion. And awakening slant across the surviving temple cities bring back into kind of corporeal awareness the collapse exposed the long missing plaque of autopotec within the rubble and after reading it. The awaken slant declared that Quacks had interpreted the will of the old ones correctly and ordered that necessary realignment should continue regardless of cost less the lizard men themselves depart from the great plan with this is a global tectonic event even though it's considered small.
A result of this is that volcanoes erupted throughout the world, especially across the world's edge mountains earthquake shattered settlements and lava and poisonous gases together with kind of stone the lances killed entire dwarven clans and holds sections of the underway were flooded or ruined communication between the holes failed as the caric anchor. The door was entered the long decline from which they would never fully recover the doors will not stand for this the doors are unaware of this. The way I stand for it anyway obviously because of the tectonic movement. It opened up the dwarven holes to attack from below so you start seeing green skins and soon afterwards the migrating scaven kind of swarm over the caric anchor.
Caric, Ungor became the first great hole to fall while other strong holes were isolated or abandoned. The door of history remembered the event as a sudden age of catastrophe without knowledge that it's remote cause laying the slant interpretation of a set of gold plaques. I hate the slant so hard. At the same time the sky titans of the mountains of what would become the mountains of mourn their immense sky castles tumble down into ruins. The disaster weakened the primordial civilization already under pressure and contributed to a kind of transformed political landscape within the sky type of culture which ultimately led to their destruction by the ogres and other powers that would dominate that region. Where to go slant at the same time the great bastion the great wall of cafe and was a ragged kind of openings appeared in it as the kind of mountains it was built across shook allowing hundreds of thousands of chaos marauders from the hum tribe to pour through into the ravaged lands.
The obviously the geometric correction performed in district distant lustria altered the security of perhaps the greatest human empire at the time leaving it to rack and ruin by the chaos. Why are you smoking this is awful. This is an awful time. Why are you grinning? I'm sorry I need a moment. He comes back just what we're running down his face. Just the same time ancient tylas were shattered so the lands surrounding the human city which would become scaven by were broken apart and what an already kind of corrupted landscape became a marsh became the kind of zombie marshes. Surrounding what would become scaven by the city had already fallen under the domination of the newly emerged rat men.
But again the slanderer completely ignorant of what had happened of this end of the existence of this new race developing in the ruins of tylas. At the same time the seers order you remember the grace years orders they had this massive contraction and device underneath within the roots of the within the roots of the mountains they lived next to catastrophically failed. The slanderer directed this kind of backlash but thought it was attributed entirely to their own kind of a small effect of their knock on huge realignment. Never recognizing that this disaster would ultimately lead to the creation of the under empire.
So this is the first this is the devastating explosion that opened up the caverns under the world to the scaven who were pinned in at the site of scaven blight within years their huge hopes had migrated across the world forming the nascent under empire. And so the rat men transformed from a kind of hidden localized infection or infestation to a world spanning enemy within a few centuries. So for nearly three millennia since the one of the Lysard men slanderer. The Lysard men had rebuilt and meditated and attempted to preserve the old ones order and while remaining largely separated and apart and above the the world's other peoples.
Quex's realignment showed that the isolation was actually an illusion. A single decision made through the geometric web could not only destroy cities but break empires and redirect the histories of almost every other race in war hammer culture from that time. And so the central kind of contradiction of the sland remains were recovered black to prove that Quex had kind of obeyed the great plan. But yet the consequences including mass death and the starting of genocides such as the decline of the dwarves or the global expansion of the scaven could be laid firmly at the feet of the of really a staggeringly indifferent race believing that they operated.
And so the benefit of the world on a truly planetary scale. Lysard men, I hate Lysard men. You know my faction of just falling head over here was over the factions that we're talking about. I was never really attracted to the Lysard men before we started learning about them and I'm less attracted to them now. Fucking morons. This is what blind faith does. This is the result of it. Just like. Yeah. Oh my god. Have you been holding on to that for 88 episodes? Yep. I mean, not once in all of that time did I ever think those events which we went into in great detail were in any way linked and I deeply upset. It was all thanks to the fuck I mean other men. So basically the Lysard men are chaos is puppets. That's what I'm reading.
Yeah, sure. We worship the old ones and things like that. It's just nothing to do with chaos and call on a knurkle dressed up in the old one outfits. That's all it is. Oh yeah. You know, it's really going to know. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. The Lysard men are the polar opposites of chaos in terms of. Doesn't sound like it. It's not that doing that. It's a little motivation. But they are as indifferent to all other life on the world of Warhammer. As perhaps you could view chaos being a little chaos obviously driven by consumption of souls. Yeah, no, but I know the Lysard men are no bueno. So it's really aftermath of this. Did they. Yes, there's two questions. Did they ever come to understand the true impact of that realignment? And did they feel that that realignment was, you know, as planned. Was it was it was in the plaques?
Well, I think we mentioned there that they when the realignment was enacted. A plaque was discovered that justified that alignment to the other slam police. Slam priests. The realignment was an end in itself. They didn't care. Why would they care? They've been able to justify it to themselves that this was in order. This was in accordance with the great plan of what has now become their gods. Why would they care what happens to anyone else? Do you know what? This is this is this is the combination of two traits that when they exist together in a single person, infuriate me more than anything else arrogance and ignorance. They think they know everything, but there's some a big glaring hole in there in their understanding. Yeah, fucking hell. Yeah, I'm I'm I'm in furied. I'm I'm fucking seething here.
What a bunch of ignorant arrogant bastards been exactly crowd. I'm fucking all fucking dehydrated the basking sun without any walking in. Do you know I'm so pleased to have gone to it. I'm so pleased that held on. Yeah, six years of been waiting to let that one out. Whatever impacts you were expecting, you've got it, Darren. That was our man. Grey. You've really set me up for the rest of the day. You can't. I say that with my ribbit. Do you like the Lizard man who likes the Lizard men, not me. I hate him. I think they're the most hated. Jam Jam lizard man as the name suggests likes them. Yeah, I don't know. I'm the verge of kicking them out the discord just because of the now. That's how the reality I'm feeling. I just canceling the rest of the Lizard man series. Yeah, with mobile dudes will change will change his nickname on discord to jam jam shit man.
Yeah, yeah. Because of the Lizard men, not because of the jam jam park. Yeah, no problem with jam. Yeah, but it's just that one event that one event, do the dwarves. Really, really fucked over coffee and then cause the blossoming of goblin and, you know, gave birth to the scaven under empire. The scaven would not be us. The sky. Yeah, they would not. The scaven would not be the threat they are today without that event. Leg up. Yeah, just grab this. I'm struggling to not associate. I'm pretty much in between the choking. Yeah, I can't help but like I can't not attach chaos as involvement to this. That this is that, you know, this was at least in part their will and desires.
And maybe again, maybe they're behind the whole thing. The old ones are just fabricated by the chaos guards. I would love that. That would almost be worth of nearly the demise of several races and the rise of scaven. And all the horrible, horrible stuff that happened. It just used to be ignorant and arrogant. Shut up, man. I need to get this off. I need to get this off my chest. The hate for the Lizard Man is real. It's really struggling with the idea that it was all a mistake. I think that's what it is. It's like these guys just, they didn't think about the consequences. They did it. And then it was just all about that. They didn't even cross their mind like it could have been the outcome could have been a whole lot of it. It could have been all fucking roses. And everyone could be like, they would have been indifferent about that. Enjoy Darren. I don't care. I'm gushing. I'm angry. Yeah. Like the polar opposite could have been the same. I just tell it to Steve steer clear for today. Like, you're being real trouble.
Don't talk about lizards. Yeah. The old elbows and knees. Yeah. I mean, I'm not trying to ask Proud how the Lizard Man are getting on. Ask about his days going. But it's like it. I don't care. You can see. I don't care. I don't care. I'm not listening. You can say that chaos was tangentially involved. But not really. They're just dicks. They're just fucking. This line of just dicks. I mean, you could, you could, I mean, the only way that I can imagine that would be the cases, the four gods are up there across there, however, it's kind of position. You'll never guess what I've done. Yeah. It all happens. They're all three of them looking zips and they're like, I mean, he's like, mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. I didn't think they'd do it. I mean, like close doors each is like Jesus.
It's gross. I really didn't even have that one. Well, that was excellent. How was that excellent in a real house? Is that the end? Is that the end? That's something that you know where you go from there. That was it. That's your last one. How am I going to top that? Yeah. That must have to be the end of the episode. That's more of a feeling in the storm of chaos, ending. That is. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That takes the biscuit. That takes the... Oh. Brilliant. The god damn it. A fivious biscuit. Right. Well, let's end it before Kral ends himself. All right. It's all finished. Thank you so much for listening.
