Liverpool Man Jailed for Ketamine Smuggling

0:00On March 27, a 23-year-old man from Liverpool has been sentenced to 22 months in jail for trying to smuggle ketamine worth up to 25,000 pounds onto the Isle of Man. He was caught during a routine search as a foot passenger on a ferry from Highsham to Douglas on December 14, 2025. Offices also found 44 pounds worth of herbal cannabis hidden on him, and he later pleaded guilty to importing both drugs plus possession of ketamine with intent to supply. In court, the judge stressed the need for a strong deterrent, noting that while ketamine use remains low on the island, imports have been rising steadily. He pointed to organized groups from Northwest England, caching in on better profits there. The man's lawyer explained he was an intelligent university math student who got pressured into it to pay off a debt, calling it a huge error in.
