Live Nation & Ticketmaster Trial Continues Despite Justice Dept Settlement

The anti-trust trial against live nation and ticket master kicked back into gear on Monday in a New York federal court. A week after the Justice Department settled its claims and bowed out, 36 states plus the District of Columbia are still pushing forward with their case. Earlier this week, things look shaky when the states asked for a mistrial over the federal settlement. After some back and forth negotiations urged by the judge, they dropped that request and the trial resumed as planned. The states argue that live nation and ticket master squash competition through threats and retaliation, letting them dominate everything from concert, promotion to ticketing and jack-up prices for fans. Testimony picked up with lawyers for the state's grilling Jay Marciano, the top executive at AEG presents Live Nation's biggest rival.
