The New York Metz got a big boost heading into opening day as star shortstop Francisco Lindor returned to spring training action on Sunday. After surgery, he led off against the Blue Jays, going one for three with a single, a run scored, and a strikeout before coming out. His new infield teammate Marcus Semyon shown two, finishing one for two with a home run and three runs batted in. Lindor called it a solid day, saying he felt like himself and ended healthy. Metz fans are thrilled with the progress, especially after Lindor's injury setback. The team plans to take it slow, having him play every other day through the remaining seven preseason games to build him up safely. Lindor has been one of baseball's top short stops when healthy, racking up over 55 wins above replacement in 11 seasons. He's finished in the top 10 for most valuable players seven times, including second place last year with 6.9 WAR, 33 home runs.
