Lexington Star Jasper Johnson Transfers to Oregon

The five star freshman, son of former Wildcat great Dennis Johnson, wrapped up his only season in blue averaging 4.9 points, 1.6. Assists and 1.1 rebounds over 12 minutes of game and 35 appearances. The Wildcats had a tough year with injuries piling up, forcing coach Mark Pope to shuffle lineups constantly. Johnson got thrust into a backup point guard spot way outside his wheelhouse as a natural score and it just didn't click like everyone hoped. Fans and folks back home are feeling the sting, since this was supposed to be that perfect homegrown story. Instead, his inconsistent play and the team struggles left a sour taste, sparking real disappointment in big blue nation. Now he's headed across the country to Oregon, committing to Dana Altman and the Ducks in the Big Ten. That's about 2,400 miles from home, about as fresh a start as it gets.
