3:09Local stars we had in Philadelphia were flyers players But then for the last ten years aside from covid or whatever the team has had just so many failures I haven't made the playoff since the covid year and losing in the first round basically every other year Not making the playoffs. It's just been so long But it feels good when the flyers are back and it's been a weird season because it has been part of the youth movement At the beginning of the year we were talking about maybe playoff see some growth from meachkov all those sorts of things But it was a weird season right there was some controversy with meachkov There was is talk it playing them enough. Is he not playing them enough? There's talk it questioning the the medal of the team But it does seem like over the last couple of weeks and then with the addition of Porto Martone They're first round picked from last year and you could tell like it was surprising to me and look I had no idea Porto Martone from from from Adam from Michigan State from from Michigan State when he got here can he contribute right away? However him immediately being on the second line sort of see shoots the puck every other time he touches it

4:16And then and then being one of their key power play guys it was a surprise to me And it feels like maybe it hasn't added energy to the team. It feels like it to me But but as a fan having a young guy who is as advertised you know We wanted meachkov to be the guy. Maybe he's not that guy But maybe Martone is it's been fun and then with force to coming back and all that stuff It has been fun and now they are sitting the season ended right now They're in the playoffs. They'd play the penguins which would be exciting as well So the bandwagon starts now 215 592 94 94 if you're die hard Are we allowed on it? Do we have to stay on outside come on and if you are a casual Which there's nothing wrong with being you can't be die harder with every single team. Do you want on? It's been exciting though It's been exciting like talking about the flyers again And you know turning it on and being like oh this team's actually good. I agree And listen, I'm tasked. 5:19There's been a rollercoaster ride with this flyers team. Mm-hmm You know and with the fan base as far as what their expectations should be I felt like everyone wanted to set the expectations low at the beginning of the season Because a coping mechanism so that you don't get disappointed You know when you got on this youth movement coming in and you're thinking okay Scott should be the limit. Let's see what we can do And the fans didn't seem like they were all in necessary to buy in the coach. I don't know He may have been a little heavy handed early in the season putting too much expectation there You know is he overcoaching the young guys? Is he giving them enough time to sort of develop? Didn't you got mechkov who didn't necessarily come back and shape the way they expected him to He didn't necessarily turn into the star of this year that we thought he would be But here's the thing that I'll tell you without trying to Re-litigate everything about the flyers this year. Just looking at it from afar Here's what I've noticed Hey this team from a player standpoint They seem to believe in themselves and enjoy playing with each other now sometimes

6:25And this isn't some sort of slander against coach talk it But when you have a coach just so hard on you you team you you sometimes band together as a unit You know in defense of that right and so they haven't given up on the season I'm gonna tell you what's surprising despite Is how they have not only Welcome Porter Marton into into the group But they are feeding off that energy as well. You imagine what it's like to be a pro And then think some college kid is coming in to save your bacon that that 75% of the way through the season Yeah, yeah, by the way, yes Not even the beginning of the year. This is this is 75% of the way through the year He comes up. It's it actually seems like it happened out of nowhere So you can easily get veterans who resent that and it doesn't have this effect on it It can actually have the opposite effect on the team They have come together in a beautiful way and are playing great together and they believe

7:26They're just getting in the playoffs and let's see what happens, right? It's like let us in the dance get us in there and let's see what happens last time they made a magical run It basically came from this sort of position They've seen where they were they were they've seen yeah, it sort of came from this position And we rolled that all the way to the game six In the building with that disappointing loss against Chicago It's good not since 2010 Has the energy been where it should be as it pertains to the flyers and hopefully this is the beginning of something Hopefully this is the beginning of something and let me just say this to the flyer fans out there to the die hearts Embrace us. It's still going on unfortunately But but like that that's what happens with young teams sometimes they just
