Leighton Meester Reveals Blair Waldorf Sequel

The novel by Cecilie von Ziegessar focuses on her famous character and hits shelves in 2027 from Grand Central Publishing. Meester shared that she read the first seven chapters after getting an advanced copy. She called it cool during a chat at South by Southwest while promoting her film Basic. Meester said they sent it to her to check out what's happening, confirming it's coming out as a full book. The story picks up 20 years after the original series events. It follows a middle-aged Blair Waldorf, heading back to Manhattan to climb the social ladder and rejoin her old wealthy crowd. Blair's last book outing was in 2009 when she started college in Split from Nate. Gossip Girl first aired on the CW from 2007 to 2012, launching stars like Meester, Blake Lively, and Penn Bagley, a reboot ran two seasons on HBO from 2021 to 2023.
