Star Amber Davies, the 29-year-old playing Elle Woods, had already pulled out mid-performance the night before, due to illness. Her understudy, Hannah Louther, stepped in for the second half. Amber shared on Instagram that back-to-back roles in the great Gatsby strictly come dancing, and this tour led to burnout and a lingering sickness. She is on antibiotics and taking indefinite time off to recover. The production cited cast illness with a cancellation and notified ticket holders of our refunds or other options. Many fans expressed devastation online, especially those who traveled far with little notice. Some could not swap to the evening show due to sewed-out seats or vouchers instead of cash refunds.
