Learner Driver Shoots at Police, Faces Seven New Charges

0:00In Sydney, it's March 10th. Here's what is happening. A 31-year-old woman in northern New South Wales is facing serious charges after allegedly shooting at police during a car chase. The learner driver had her permits suspended and got a court notice for weapons and driving offenses earlier that day. Less than an hour later, police spotted her in the same car and tried to pull her over, but she took off, sparking another pursuit along O'Ranaway. Following the chase, she allegedly fired several shots from the vehicle at officers, though luckily no one was hurt. She eventually stopped, climbed on top of the car, and pointed a pistol at police before driving off again. The pursuit ended at a home on Gumtree Road in Laniza, where she stood on the car once more, aiming the gun at officers, and then at herself while trying to break in. Police arrested her on the spot, seized the pistol for testing, and added seven more charges, including firing a weapon to resist arrest. She faces court in the bail division today.
