Leafs' Traded Players Score in Debuts

0:00Here's more NHL news for March 15th. The Toronto Maple Leafs shook things up at the NHL trade deadline by sending three veterans to new teams. Center Scott Lafton went to the Los Angeles Kings, left-winger Bobby McMahon to the Seattle Kraken and center Nicolas Roy to the Colorado Avalanche. All three wasted no time, scoring in their debut games with their fresh squads. Bobby McMahon made the biggest impact right away. After Visa delays, he exploded for two goals and three points against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday. That bumped his season totals to 21 goals and 35 points in 61 games. Kraken coach Lane Lambert loved it, giving him over 18 minutes of ice time, his most since mid-January. Scott Lafton fit right in with the Kings 2. He notched his ninth goal of the year against the Montreal Canadiens on March 7th. Two nights later, he added two points versus the Columbus Blue Jackets. He added another goal soon after versus the Kraken, reaching seven goals and 22 points in 64 games. His minutes have dipped to about 13 minutes on the deep Colorado roster, but he's delivering solid bottom six play. These spans might wish these guys stuck around for a playoff run, but they weren't core pieces.
