LaMelo Ball Thrives Without LaVar's Involvement

About this episode

LaMelo Ball, the Hornets star, shares his upbringing with his basketball-focused father, LaVar Ball. They engaged in simple, grassroots training like hill runs, weightlifting, and pickup games. Despite LaVars recent suggestion to sign Lonzo, LaMelos growth and the Hornets roster dynamics make it unlikely. LaVars initial training laid a strong foundation, but LaMelos independence and the teams current success suggest a promising future.

Lamello Ball recently shared how his dad, Lavar Ball, trained him and his brothers growing up. In an interview, the young Hornet star described simple neighborhood sessions of three on three or five on five pickup games with local kids. They would run hills, lift weights, and then hit the court for hours of fun competition. Lavar Ball has always been hands on with his son's basketball development. That tough, grass roots approach helped to build their skills from the ground up without fancy facilities or coaches. These days, though, many hope Lavar keeps his distance from the mellows pro career in Charlotte. The dad recently suggested the Hornet sign Lamello's older brother, Lonzo, to boost the team and make it the league's biggest draw. Adding Lonzo sounds tempting for his playmaking and defense, but the Hornet's roster is packed. They just traded for Kobe White as backup point guard, and wings like Zion James and

1:03Josh Green are stepping up strong. Plus, Lonzo's injury issues make it risky. Lamello has shown he thrives on his own now, shaking off past ankle problems with help from the team's medical staff. Lavar deserves credit for the strong foundation, but letting his son lead should keep the good times rolling. D&N is sponsored by our partner. Check out the episode description.
