All righty. Welcome to the next film school post game show,
presented by Fanatics Sportsbook. It is your boy Jonathan Macri here.
Boy, that's why you got to watch till the very end. It doesn't matter if it is the Washington
Wizards in the middle of March. You never know what's going to happen in a next game,
especially a next game in Madison Square Garden. There might just be a Tyler Colock
side show that is going to break out, and that's how this one ended.
Let's talk about this game for as much as there's going to be much to say about it,
but here's what I want to start.
The next, there's six winner and a row. Obviously, I think somebody said it in the newsletter
comments. Maybe I forget who said it. Somebody was like, pretty sure we can affirm that this is
the worst five game winning streak in history of the NBA. I think tonight was a little bit better,
but if we're being honest, did the next play great basketball tonight? No, I don't think
the next play great tonight. They played well enough to walk away with this one without much stress,
really without any stress. And I thought it would be the most appropriate way to kind of open
this one would be just with a reminder or a grounding moment, maybe is the better way to say it.
For anyone, as I imagine, most people listening here are, unless you're eight or nine year old
kid who just picked up next fandom like when they were three or four.
Anyone who experienced being a fan of this team really any time between the years of 2001
to 2020, give or take a couple of years in the middle there. We're mellow made things fun,
but if you were a fan during that time, especially some of the really lean years,
and somebody said to you, there will be a day that will come where this next team, same owner,
same, same everything, this next team would win a game by 32 points
over another NBA team, not like an exhibition game against like Shanghai or something,
like 32 points over another NBA team to go, where do they go, 22 games over 500, I think,
that's right. And for their sixth win in a row, and yet nobody would be particularly impressed.
Next fans would be impressed. National media wouldn't even bat an eyelash,
and they would be able to achieve that, those accomplishments without even playing
like all that well. That's where we're at, you know, that's where we're at. And I don't,
you know, look, there's been a lot of conversation over the last year and change about any,
you know, any time the team goes through some tough times, you know, people like me will have
a crash out and say some harsh things, and obviously I'm not the only one, but like, you know,
whatever, things get said. And then you'll get the wise sage folks among us would be like, listen,
let's keep things in perspective, where this team is at is pretty good. And I think that's,
that's kind of the perspective I'm taking right now. Six wins in a row.
Again, 32 point victory over, I mean, just an uphorn, we thought the nets were at a
horn passable team two nights ago. This is really a horn passable team.
Trying very hard to be a port, we should add. But yeah, it's just, it's a good place to be if you're
a fan of the Nix. Are things perfect? No, are they the best team in the league? Probably not.
You know, if as I have Boston, Minnesota on in a tight game top of the top of the fourth quarter,
beginning of the fourth quarter, Boston is up by one Minnesota's fight and hard without
anything. Yeah, words, I'll keep people updated on the score of this game as it keeps going along.
You know, like I could absolutely see a world where Nix are not favored in round two if they
wind up facing the Celtics. So like, yeah, and it's not perfect. And it's been a, it's been a,
kind of a slow build to this and, you know, the feeling like, hey, we're supposed to be like
minted, fully minted contenders. And, you know, I think the reason why you get, you know, moments
where people are really upset is because it feels like, well, what are we waiting for? Because
that doesn't seem like what they are. But again, trying to just keep everything in perspective,
it's a really good basketball team. And I think they were reminded you of it. Not that we really
needed reminding or should have needed reminding it, but they reminded you of it tonight.
As far as like thoughts on this game, I don't really know how anyone could draw any
conclusions about much of anything against this Wizard's team. Much like it was hard to,
the only conclusions that we've drawn in the previous five games, which have been like
battles at some point or another, is just that like, is it that the mix aren't taking these
things seriously or the mix actually like just they don't have it in them to take things serious
as much as they can. You know, any conclusions we drew were, was like speculation about like, well,
if it's this hard to beat this team, like, what does that say about us?
Nick's, I think tonight, you know, showed you that they're
kind of ready for this season, the regular season to be over. And I think they're ready to
get going with these last 10 games and hopefully make a move up to standings if that's
something that's important to them, which we hope it is. As far as other conclusions, I mean,
we could go through them real quick. Carl Anthony Towns, a man amongst boys.
He's really been a man amongst boys for quite some time now.
He has been the team's best offensive player since the All Star Break. I don't even think
that's much of a conversation. He's been playing at an all NBA level since the All Star Break.
And, you know, I think I forget who Zach Low was on with the other day, but they, you know,
did kind of like, well, you know, not even tentative all NBA teams, but kind of went through like
the locks, whose first team tentatively, whose second team tentatively, and then went through
a list of guys who were kind of making late pushes. And Towns was one of the guys he listed,
making late push. This is a very real push that Towns is making for all NBA. And if he keeps this
up over the last 10 games, especially considering there might be another guy or two who is not going
to qualify depending on how a few injury situations go. Obviously, Anthony Edwards is a question mark,
Kate Cunningham. We hope he gets better, but he's a question mark now. Somebody's other guys are,
you know, game two games up on the 65 game pace. You know, he just can't be stopped right now.
So 26 and 16 and 26 freaking minutes. Pretty, pretty good. Josh Hart continues to not miss three
pointers. He has now made nine consecutive threes. Not a, not a great time right now for the,
you know, Josh Hart haters cottage industry. But hey, Josh Hart's going to Josh Hart. So,
you can't hold him down for very long. He's feeling he's playing with confidence. I just hope
to God that this confidence carries over until the playoffs because a confident Josh Hart is a,
like, that's the top 50 NBA player, you know, top 40, top 50, something along those lines. So
that's awesome to see. Few things are as uplifting as the greatest moments in sports.
And nothing brings us together quite like team USA at the Olympic winter games from NBC
Universal's iconic storytelling to the innovative technology across Xfinity and Peacock.

The big arch, the most McDonald's McDonald's burger yet for a limited time.
It was good to see McAlbridge's get off the snide. Thank you very much Andrew Claudio. We'll
get to that in a bit. Bridges looked, I would say the most like himself that we've seen him
in what eight to 10 games, something around that range.
Only had 14.6 of 11 shooting, but it was like, this is a typical McAlbridge's
style and had six assists, which is very nice. TMI plus 28. So you love to see that. So good job
on McAlbridge's. Jalen. So it's funny, a half time because Jalen started off high and then he
finished the first half cold and I wrote down. I was like, huh, JB three for eight on two point
field goals. I don't think he, if he got to the line in the first half, he didn't get there much.
I mean, he shot three free throws the whole game finishes. Do some quick math. 7 for 14 on two
point field goals. I thought he got it back a little bit in the second, in the second half. Look,
I was not worried about Jalen Bronson after the next game. I just thought Jalen Bronson
done like healthy. He looked healthy in this game, which was good to see and hopefully his ankle
is okay after I forget which Wizards player accidentally like fell into it, but he was kind of
limping there for a bit, but he seems fine. So I still, you know, there's some about Jalen for
like the last, I don't know, month or two. I guess maybe since he came back from the from the
ankle where it just he's not there are shots that like the shot where he faked out whatever
poor wizard it was at the hoop. And then he had a point like layup that missed. It's like that's
a shot that Jalen Bronson makes, you know, 10 times out of 10, 99 times out of 100. And he missed
it and like brain even pointed out. So I still think there's something we'll off about him.
And yeah, I'm still not I'm not worried. Not going to say I'm worried and and he'll he'll be ready
to go and in full force through the playoffs. Mitchell Robinson double double in 17 minutes again
against this Wizard's team. That's almost the bare minimum. Mahamadi, a war and I should see the ball
go through the hoop. He was four six three or four from three. Great job by him. Jordan Clarkson
continues to provide energy, provide a spark and continues more importantly than either of the
or as importantly as either of those things put the ball in basket. Alvarado, a couple threes go
down. That's great for him. And then we'll end on Tyler Colech who said I did not I was not
aware of this at all earlier today. I knew he was in Westchester earlier today. I didn't know he
said a team record with 42 points. You know, nine threes 11 assists gets in the game with literally
five minutes left. And just can, you know, picks up right where he left off in Westchester starts
bombing threes made three of three from behind the arc four or four overall finished with 11 points
in five minutes and help secure a 30 plus point victory in a 145 point night. Shouldn't
gloss over that. 145 points. A lot of points. I don't care who you play. I don't care what
one of it is. I don't care how much the team is trying to lose. And actually now that I think
about it, there's might be this is if it's not the next season high end points, it's very close
to those season high. No, they scored 146 back in December against Utah. That was the game
that they started off 23 to nothing, but like, man, this is the fourth time this season.
This team has put up at least 140 points. That's pretty ridiculous. And look, when they, when they
score, they don't lose. They are now, let's see here, 20 and 2, 21 and 2 when they score over 125
points. Like, look, 125 is a lot. A lot of teams are probably pretty close to undefeated when they
score over 125. Here's the thing. The next to scored over 125 now 23 times in 72 games.
So you do the math. That's basically one out of every three games. This team is scoring above 125
points. And like, it says something about their defense that like, yeah, their defense,
maybe it's not going to win games by itself. But when they put up points, like, their defense
is going to be good enough to win. And before you scoff at that, like, there's quality wins in
there, you know, Cleveland on Christmas was a quality win. You know, you could look at the set,
well, actually, San Antonio was one of the few losses. There's a Miami win in there. There's
an Orlando win in there. There's the Denver win in there. Actually, both Denver wins in there.
Minnesota win in there. Another Miami win in there. So, you know, this team is, I'll repeat it.
They're good. They're just a really good basketball team. And we're about to find out
over the course of the next 10 games. Just how good they are. Because, well, look, I'll update you.
A long way to go still six and a half minutes. But wolves are up by 10 on the Celtics in Boston.
Sorry, I make that 12 in Boston. A little Nazari jump hook. The freaking wolves are on a roll.
It looked like Boston was going to run away with this game. Julius Randle, the last I checked,
he had was one at 10 from the field. I feel like he has to have done better than that since I last
checked. No, he's still one of 10 from the field. And they are, and the wolves are up 93 to 81. So,
we'll see what happens. But Nick's absolutely going to get a chance to, you know, make some
headway in the, in the standings here before us and done. But they're going to have a challenging
schedule ahead with which to, you know, do that. So obviously, one more game against a team that
doesn't have a very good record. But don't sleep on the New Orleans Pelicans. The New Orleans Pelicans
are about a 500 team for close to two months now. So that's going to be a, you know, that's going
to be a real game. And then after that, you know, it's, it's go time at Charlotte. We know what
the Hornets could do at Oklahoma City, and I've said, and then at Houston, and then back to back at
Memphis. Again, Memphis is one of those teams that has no right to be doing anything at this point,
organizationally. They, they certainly don't want to win. And then you look at some of their recent
games like Celtics had to go basically to the final buzzer to beat him by five recently.
You know, they beat the nuggets. Look, a lot of losses from Memphis, but they will play you hard.
And then quick back home for Chicago, that should be an easy one. And then the final four is
fascinating. At Atlanta, Boston at home, Toronto at home, Charlotte at home. So look, the Nixville
have an opportunity here. Like if they play well, they play their game. I think, you know, certainly
seven and three in those last 10 feels like, is it a reasonable expectation? I don't think it's
unreasonable. You know, certainly six and four, but it feels like my gut feeling is telling me
almost regardless of what happens tonight. If they want that to seed, I feel like it's got to be
seven and three. And I feel like one of the seven wins is going to have to be against the Celtics.
That's, and I know, Boston has some hard games coming up. But that's what my,
that's what my gut is telling me. We'll see. We'll see if I'm right. I don't know if six and four
is going to get it done, but, you know, they're capable. So that's good news.
Yeah.
