0:00Eight high school seniors snag scholarships from the Kuwani's Club of Birmingham at their annual Youth of the Year ceremony for the Class of 20, 26. These awards honor top students shining in academics, community service, citizenship, and leadership. The club, founded in 1915, is the world's biggest Kuwani's group with more than 500 business and non-profit leaders pushing to help. Kids, build communities and spark leadership through projects. Since 1970, they've handed out over $270,000 to deserving grads. Winners like Elijah Burns, from Hoover High, named overall Youth of the Year Scholar, and Emory Nichols from Mortimer Jordan, with the legacy, scholarship. Represent schools across the area, including Mountain Brook, Ramsey IB, and Briarwood Christian. Their drive already sets a strong example for the next generation. These scholars are college bound at heavy hitters, Burns, Nichols, and Eli Thompson to the University of Alabama, Camdenmore, and Lucy Player 2.
