Kings Fire Hiller, Promote Smith

The Los Angeles Kings made a big coaching change on Sunday, firing head coach Jim Hiller and promoting associate coach DJ Smith to take his place. Hiller, a 56-year-old veteran, posted a record of 93 wins, 58 losses, and 24 other results over three seasons behind the bench. He stepped in after Todd McClellan got let go on February 2nd, 2024, but this season the Kings sit at 24 wins, 21 losses, and 14 overtime losses, good for fifth in the Pacific Division. Their recent form has been rough, with just two wins in their last eight games, despite a two-nothing victory over the Calgary Flames on Saturday. Before that, they gave up 22 goals in four outings.
