Kingman Seeks Public Input on Future Growth Plans

The City of Kingman is inviting residents, business owners, and visitors to participate in a brief community survey aimed at helping shape the city's future growth and visitor experience. The survey is part of a partnership between the City of Kingman's economic development and tourism department and students from Arizona State University's Masters of Urban and Environmental Planning Program through the Project City's initiative. This collaboration is designed to gather community input and guide strategies that strengthen Kingman's position as a destination along historic Route 66. This effort comes as the Arizona Department of Transportation constructs a new interchange connecting Interstate 40 and U.S. Route 93. While the project will improve regional traffic flow, it is also expected to shift travel patterns, allowing more motorists to bypass Kingman. 1:01City's program, ASU students have been tasked with conducting a comprehensive analysis of the area surrounding the future interchange. Their work includes evaluating existing conditions related to land use planning, multimodal access, trail connectivity, historic resources, recreational assets, and gateway signage. Students will also assess how changes in traffic patterns and volume may impact Kingman's economic opportunities. In addition, the team will conduct peer community research, stakeholder interviews, and targeted surveys to better understand both local needs and successful strategies used in similar communities. The project will end in a final report that provides planning and policy recommendations for the City to evaluate and consider for future action. This partnership allows us to take a proactive approach to growth, said economic development director Bennett Bradley. By combining community input with research and planning expertise, we can better position Kingman to welcome travelers and support long-term economic development. The City of Kingman encourages community members to participate in the survey and help shape how the City grows and connects to future travelers.
