On March 28th, Kimi Antonelli just snagged his second pole in a row at the Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka, topping a tight qualifying scrap. He edged out his Mercedes teammate, George Russell, by more than two tenths, with a killer lap of 1 minute 28.788 seconds, while McLaren's Oscar-Piastry landed third. Q3 kicked off with both Mercedes drivers, Piaestry, and Ferrari's Charles LeClair, all pushing hard for the top spot after battling through the session. In a big surprise, four-time pole-king Max Verstappen crashed out early in Q2, dropping to eleventh after racing Bulls rookie Arvid Lindblad bumped, him down. McLaren grabbed third and fifth overall with Piaestry up front, and Lando Norris behind LeClair and fourth, Lewis Hamilton sixth, then Pierre Gasly, Isaac Hadjar, and Audi's Gabriel Bordelato, rounding out the top nine, setting up a wild race tomorrow.
