Ken Carman Blasts Jalen Hurts Trade Ideas

Daryl is with us today, Lyme is, he's in Dayton, because that's where you go. And I'm about to insult the senses even more. Usually it's like, oh gosh, it's off season. Oh, okay, well, we started off with the Browns wanted a rule change, which the reasons behind that. A lot of people just jump to the archmaning conclusion. I think you got to think a little deeper of it. And you can go back and listen to that at seven o'clock, but I'll bring it up again before Mary K joins us today, 20 this morning. But I need some help here. Peter McKee is a possibility now, all of a sudden, for the Cleveland Browns, apparently.

1:02And some of the conversation is getting absolutely ridiculous. So first off, before I get to the thing that I'm really agitated about, or that maybe people will agree with John Boy, I'm not sure here, Daryl, John, you're an Eagles fan, right? Yes. All right. So the Eagles traded for Andy Dalton. People think Tanner McKee is on the on the market. And what they would give up for Tanner McKee, you're an Eagles fan. Why should or should not the Browns trade for Tanner McKee because I don't know much about him. I go, uh, perfect time. I bring in the Eagles fan away. We go. It depends on what you're giving up for. Right. I mean, Tanner McKee was mocked at getting a conditional third ground pick that can turn into a second to the end of the 2024 season because he played really well against the commanders and the cowboy or that was the, uh, the cowboys and the giants in the last two regular season games in 2024 because Jalen Hertz was injured. And people were saying this, and he had been getting preseason hype for the last three years. So and there have been real conversations about Tanner McKee and this is, I want to say

2:08real conversations. I mean, this is, this is WIP, right? Okay. Well, when we talk about real conversations, we talk about like what general managers may be saying. Yes. That's real conversation. That's not radio fantasy land between guys who look like me. But go ahead. The Eagles have always been relatively high on their backup quarterbacks. Howie Rosen has, has said time and time again, we want to be a QB factory and the backup quarterbacks Eagles have had in their history have been really solid. I mean, considering you won a Super Bowl with one and Jalen Hertz was a backup once he, you served your guy that was your savior and now Tanner McKee is getting a ton of hype. So it, it depends on what you give up for him. Okay. But if you give up a third or a fourth, you have to think that the Browns may want him to start at some point. Would you give that up for Tanner McKee? I would give up a fourth. Why do I want to give up anything for Tanner McKee? And yeah, you, you can, you, why do I want to move on from the quarterbacks I have for Tanner McKee? Because Tanner McKee is has, I'm not trying to be a little, I really want to know I swear to God.

3:08I know Tanner McKee has played well in, in the little time that he has had in the NFL. He actually had more pass attempts this past season than Malik Willis did. So, and, and, and he didn't play well in the one game he started this year, but also I, I kind of do chalk that up to Kevin Batullo. The Eagles. I mean, that, oh, that offensive coordinator was terrible. There's a reason he's not on the team anymore. But um, Tanner McKee is an interesting option, but I don't think that it's this concrete option that you're looking for. Do you think he's worth the 107th pick in the draft? I do. I do. I mean, I think he's a better option than Dylan Gabriel and potentially Shedore. I'm not having a conversation about Dylan Gabriel. I will compare him to Shedore and I will compare him to, because I have to. I'll compare him to the Sean Watson, but I'm not going to, no offense to Dylan Gabriel. We're just not having that conversation. So you'd like him over Shedore Sanders. I do because he has, he, his best NFL game is better than Shedore's best NFL game. And it's, I don't know if it's necessarily close, but also you do have to take into account

Tanner McKee, if you look at what Tanner McKee did in those final two games of the regular season in 2024, there were legit conversations about the Eagles flipping him for a pick and he would go start somewhere. Oh, okay. So because you brought all that up, that's why I'm a little bit, I'm questioning this conversation that will happen yesterday. Here's JP and Nick. This is going to get kind of nuts here, apparently. This is over, the Jalen Hertz now, John, this is over Jalen Hertz. All right, hit it. Would you rather a fifth round pick for Tanner McKee or the sixth pick for Jalen Hertz? What? Which one would you rather do? I don't give the question. Would you rather trade a fifth round pick for Tanner McKee or the sixth pick overall for Jalen Hertz? Oh, the sixth pick overall. I think you've been the sixth round pick. I said, what are you doing to yourself? Uh, yeah, six overall and you get, you get Jalen Hertz and say they're still not even

5:11a question. I think it might be a question for some people to think Jalen Hertz staying. I think it's a question for people in Philadelphia. Uh, listen, do I think Jalen Hertz is the greatest quarterback I've ever seen? No, I don't. Do I think he does come with some limitations? Yes, I do. Do I think your big board last year that had him as what the fifth best quarterback in the sport is wrong? Yes, I do. I'd obviously be updated version. Well, it's not, he's not the fifth best quarterback in the NFL now, he didn't just win the Super Bowl. All right. Well, when you made the list, that's what he was, right? Yeah, he was fifth best. After winning Super Bowl. I think he's probably like around. I don't know. He's like 12 somewhere in that range. It's a respectable range. I give up the number six overall pick for Jalen Hertz. I don't even think that's a hot take. Do I like to talk about sports? I do. Do I like to wake up in the morning? I do. Do I like to have coffee in the morning? I do. I love the rhetorical questions. I'm sorry. I had to do it. I, he would give up a six overall pick for Jalen Hertz. Would you give up a six overall pick for Jalen Hertz? Are you giving up a six overall pick for a guy that would become the greatest quarterback in the history of your franchise? Well, for the love of God. I can't do it.

6:11I can't do it. What? Would you give up a six overall pick to make up? Why else? Every single guy in the face. Guys, I can't do it. No, no, no. I've got new shoes on. Did you just say he'd be the greatest quarterback in the history of his career? He's coming back to be better than Otto Graham. I'm not young. He's coming back to Cleveland. He's going to be better than Brian Siphon. Since 1999. Since 1999. He's going to be better than Bernie Fozard. Not yelling at John. I'm yelling at, I'm yelling at Jonathan for putting it in his head apparently. I'm yelling. Have, has the whole world gone crazy, guys? Would you like to make the playoffs? If you would have six, you're giving up six overall for Jalen Hertz. To make the playoffs every year. But you guys had a big argument about starting Tanner McKee last year. This Philadelphia sports radio is absolutely awesome. You said it was a serious conversation. Yeah. Then why the hell would you put Tanner McKee on the trade block apparently? What a quote. If you were going to start him over Jalen Hertz, who somehow we would give up a six overall this is the dumbest thing I've ever heard in the history of the station. You didn't hear it. You thought I ain't yelling at you, young man. I ain't yelling at you.

7:11This is dumb. This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard and he knows it. That's why he's hiding because he's laughing at me because he knows I've lost my mind over this of all the stupid things that have been said on these airwaves in 14 years. This is easily the most recent. I still love you less. Second of all, it's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. We have lost our minds. We have, we have literally taken the bottom lead and wrapped it over our heads now and we are suffocating for air. This is dumb. Guys, this is stupid. Do you hear what's coming out of our mouths? I think I've ever seen you this mad. Because I can't stand the stupidity. I can't do it. The six overall for Jalen Hertz from a team that was going to quote unquote start Tanner McKee over him and the reason to do it is because he's better than Johnny Mansell because he's better than Charlie Fry. What? What? I'm serious. I'm serious. John, I know you're, I'm not, I know.

8:11I know, I know. I'm on the table at you, bud. I don't want to scare you. Cut. Oh, in. Darryl. Guys. Please. Please. Please keep you from having this aneurism that's happening on air right now. Somebody has a common sense. I'm not the one that said there's the track. How does John, how does he reach that? How do people agree with it? I'm surprised he didn't say the Browns should. This is why the Browns want to get to five years worth of draft. Please. So they can train for Jalen Hertz. One first would do it. That's what you were going to say. One first would do it. I think, okay. Does 24 make it a little bit more stomachable? No. No. Try 39. Try 39. Oh, I hear about every, I'm like, even when they won the Super Bowl, it was like, hey, it's Jalen Hertz, top 10. I don't know.

9:11I don't know. Him and then. I'm not him and Han over quarterback. I'm giving up number six overall four. No. I'm not doing it. Good. God. What is gone? Is it, is it the people on the internet? What is it? What's made it so crazy? Well, what? Well, you know, the Browns want so many games managing that salary cap over the years. This is dumb. This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. And again, you're not dumb, John. I'm not calling you dumb. But do you understand why I think it's so damn stupid? Do you get what I'm saying here? I understand. You're trying to sell me tandem a key and fourth round picks and fifth round picks and more garbage for all this other stuff. And now I'm going to bring it. Well, you know, you guys could give up a six overall pick for Jalen Hertz. Why would I give up a six overall pick for Jalen Hertz when you guys just wanted to start tandem a key? Well, you should really take tandem a key off for hands. Well, why do we want it? Why is he even on the trade block? If you guys want to start him over Jalen Hertz, apparently, this is dumb. Just say you guys are trying to take advantage of a desperate fan base.

10:11And for everybody else, you've all been worked into a shoot. Am I the only saying one left? I don't know. I don't sound saying this isn't this is nuts. This is nuts. I all I can do is laugh because yeah, I'm not putting out the phone number for people who agree with this silliness. No, that's, I need, I need common sense. Usually it's like, if you guys disagree with me, call me up. No, no, no, no. I need confirmation that I'm not crazy, that I'm not the silly one here, that I'm not the stupid one here. I need a 216-474-0092. I need confirmation. That's what I need because you can hear it on my voice. I am, I am this desperate for sanity. I don't care about the draft anymore. I'm about to rip up the, rip up the sheets. I don't care. If we're going to talk about this, the guys you've completely lost the plot, and we deserve whatever comes to us. I'm telling you right now, if we're going to advocate this, this for Jalen Hertz,

11:14please, I don't even hate Jalen Hertz. But is he worth giving up six overall? No. Nope. And you're going, well, you know, maybe 24, 24? The difference between 24 and six is... Oh. I mean, this has been your reaction. It's crazy. Your reaction is, is, I wouldn't, I don't know if that's... Oh, why are you trying to sell us Jalen Hertz? It's an Eagles fan. Why are you trying to sell us Jalen Hertz? Yeah. I'm not trying to sell us Tana McKee. What are you trying to sell me? You guys are... This has happened for the last three weeks in this station, where you look at a quarterback. Yeah. We're going to have to have the last three weeks of the station as we've spotted in wheel looking for any quarterback to talk about because we're so damn desperate to replace a guy because we're all worked into it. Hey, it's the sports junkies. If anybody knows about die-hard sports fans, it's us. And where he had a terrible offensive coordinator and a coach who couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag in any game that mattered. And you want to bring in Drew Aungler here and bring him back home with this fan base? He's going to be really good for a guy who struggled at Penn State with all the pressure that was on it. That's going to be real good for Drew Aungler. Yeah, bring him back home with Browns fans. Yeah, that's going to be good. Yeah. That's going to work out real well. Real well. Have him go in for Shedore and make sure he has his phone never around him because that's going to be hell on earth. Yeah, we're going to be the one to fix it. I mean, my god. I had someone on Sunday try and convince me that taking Ty Simpson in the first round of the draft would be a good idea for the Browns. You know what? Honestly. Honestly. John, thank you. I give up six overall for like four quarterbacks out there that aren't even realistic. Then they're out of the archbending sweepstakes for good. It's bad for bronze psyche. It's bad for a business. I hate that I even had the conversation. I hate that my name is attached to it.
