This is Cory, and here's what's making news across the globe right now. Kediusha rockets targeted the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad on Saturday night. Witnesses heard explosions around 9 p.m., local time and sirens blare to warn people to take cover. Security sources say the attack caused no damage or casualties. This marched the first strike on the embassy in more than two years. The previous one happened in late 2023 during a series of assaults by Iran, aligned militias on U.S. sites in Iraq and Syria. A senior Iraqi security official reported that the base's defense system shot down one rocket. None of the projectiles landed inside the compound, and there were no American injuries. The assault shows these militias expanding their aims, beyond military bases and energy targets, to include the embassy itself. They are promised payback over recent events involving Iranian leaders. Meanwhile, Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani directed forces to hunt down the attackers. He labeled them rogue groups outside the law that do not speak for Iraqis.
