They lived near each other in Greenwich, Connecticut. Even after Gifford moved to Tennessee in 2019, she made regular trips back east every six weeks to visit him. During that last lunch, Gifford sensed it might be their final time together. She later described hearing the Lord's voice, confirming it would be goodbye. She was busy with writing and recording sessions down south when the feeling hit her hard. One morning, she woke up with an urgent sense to fly home right away. That's when she learned Filvin had passed. She rushed to his wife Joyce home with wine and food for a comforting visit with the family.
