The Katherine River peaked at 19.2 meters, flooding homes, businesses, and the town center despite levies. Roads got wrecked, leaving folks cut off and sparking airlifts for supplies. Remote spots like Daily River saw evacuations for the second time this year as waters hit a record high. Meanwhile, Darwin River got slammed without warning, trapping families and totaling cars.
