Kansas Jayhawks Aim for March Madness Deep Run

0:00On March 20, the Kansas J-Hawks head into this year's NCAA tournament as a number 4 seed, facing number 13 Cal Baptist in the first round in San Diego. It's the fourth time they've earned that spot under Coach Bill Self during his 23 years leading the team. Earlier this week, fans recalled the J-Hawks mixed history with this seeding. Back in 2004, Self's first tournament with Kansas, they made a strong run to the Elite 8 before falling in overtime to Georgia Tech. That success stood out against tougher luck in other years. In 2006, a young roster suffered a shocking first round upset to number 13 Bradley, part of back-to-back early exits. More recently, injuries hampered their chances. In 2019, they lost in the second round to Auburn without key players, and last year they bowed out the same way to Gonzaga after a close, first round win. With fresh momentum this time around, the J-Hawks aim to break the pattern and push deeper into March madness.
