K9 Toby Gets Bullet-Proof Vest

0:00Birmingham's story is making news on March 16th. A K-9 officer with Alabama's Law Enforcement Agency is about to get some serious protection. Two-year-old Dutch Shepherd Toby, who works on the SWAT team, will receive a donated bullet and staff-resistant vest from vested interest in K-9s, incorporated. The vest, worth $1,800, comes from a company in Colorado and should arrive in the next 10 weeks. It weighs 5 pounds and features embroidery, saying it's a gift of protection from the group. This nonprofit has donated more than 6,000 vests across all 50 states funded by private and corporate gifts. They help keep working dogs safe on the job. Toby is trained for tracking and suspect takedowns and he'll wear the vest during duty. Last year, another Alia K-9, named Max, got a similar best from the same organization.
