Juneau's Safe Streets Plan: Your Voice Matters

The city is hosting three public meetings this week to gather input from residents. The first is Monday at 5 p.m. at the Zantigahini campus in Lemmon Creek, Tuesday at 5 p.m. at City Hall downtown, and Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Mendenhall Valley Library. The plan will review every street in the borough, including city roads and state ones like Egan Drive. It focuses heavily on the Lemmon Creek area, which has been underserved in the past. Planners will look at crashed data, injury severity, road conditions, and historical trends to set priorities. Roads rank high on residents' wish lists. A February survey found that 58% of people want more focus on winter maintenance for streets, roads, and bridges.
