Jones' Lawyers Seek Accuser's Email

Lawyers for former broadcaster Alan Jones are pushing a court to release the email address of one of his accusers. The 84-year-old faces 27 charges of indecent assault and sexual touching from non-complainants. These stand from alleged incidents at public spots like a restaurant, the Sydney Opera House, his homes and old workplaces. Jones was arrested in late 2024. In court this week, his team highlighted a subpoena, issued to complainant G, who was not complied, despite months passing. They say the accuser sent an email to the court with the address blacked out and is avoiding contact with Jones' lawyers. The defense wants the full email to urge compliance without seeking a warrant. Jones built a long career in radio and TV, including at 2GB and Sky News. A 2023 media probe uncovered claims he misused his influence as a teacher, and top-rated host to target young men.

1:01Many details from other subpoenas were handed over in court, though their contents remained private, prosecutors and the defense swapped documents, but some subpoenas are still outstanding from two weeks back. Jones was not present at the Downing Center local court hearing. His team plans to fight all charges in a local court, starting in August, with the hearing possibly lasting up to four months.
