Joe Thompson Legacy Walk: A Movement for Hope

0:00On April 2nd, the Joe Thompson Legacy Walk is coming back next month to honor a football hero from Greater Manchester. Joe, who played for Rochdale in Berry after coming through Manchester United's youth setup, passed away at 36 last year after battling. Lymphoma three times over 12 years. This annual charity trek covers 15 miles from Rochdale's Crown Oil Arena all the way to Old Trafford, stopping at Berry's Gig Lane and Salford. City's Peninsula Stadium. Last year's event, the first under the walk with me for J.T. Banner, drew big crowds and raised thousands for his foundation. It started as a 21 mile challenge that Jill himself joined before his death, turning his personal fight into a community drive for cancer, support and hope. Folks across the Northwest and beyond have rallied around his story, seeing it as pure inspiration. His family, friends and fans keep his bravery alive, sparking that unbreakable community spirit he ignited during his illness.

1:01The Thompson Foundation shared a heartfelt call on social media, saying last year he walked with us, but now we walk for him, carrying his strength for, family spacing sickness or loss. They're urging everyone to grab teams of mates, family or co-workers to join in fundraise. Kicking off at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 2nd, signups are already rolling in strong. Lace up, register through the foundation and step into Joe's enduring legacy. It's bigger than one walk, it's a movement that keeps giving back.
