Jimmy G Ponders Retirement, Rams' Future Uncertain

0:00On April 20, Jimmy Garoppolo might be hanging up his cleat soon. The 34-year-old quarterback is mulling retirement, according to NFL Networks and Rappaport. He's already banked over $156 million in his career, so money ain't the issue. He's a free agent now, but could stick around as the Rams' backup behind Matthew Stafford next year. Garoppolo bounced around from the Patriots to the 49ers, Raiders, and now LA, with 64 starts under his belt at 43 wins and 21 losses. Fans remember him from those Patriot days, drafted in the second round back in 2014 out of Eastern Illinois. He snagged two Super Bowl rings without throwing a pass in either game, riding that Tom Brady Wave. His number stack up solid, 67.4% completion, nearly 16,000 yards, 96 touchdowns, and 52 picks. He barely saw the field with the Rams, just one start last year, and none this season. If Jimmy G steps away, the Rams might push harder to draft Stafford's air.
