Jets' Offseason: Boosting Pass Rush, Shoring Up Line

The New York Jets kicked off their 20-26 off season after a rough three-win 14-loss season under head coach Aaron Glinn. The defensive line was a weak spot, plagued by poor run defense and a weak pass rush that ranked near the bottom of the league. They tried building depth with cheap signings and trades last year, but many flopped, including losing key players like Quinn and Williams in a mid-season deal. Earlier this off season, General Manager Darren Moogie traded away Jermaine Johnson to grab massive defensive tackle to Vandre Sweat from the Titans. Sweat impressed with top-run stuff in grades and should team up nicely with new additions, Harrison Phillips and Jaouen Briggs to shore up the interior. Fans and analysts point to the line's collapse after Williams left, as the Jets gave up nearly 140 rushing yards per game on average.
