Jermod McCoy: Cowboys' Draft Solution at CB

On April 1st, Jermad McCoy turned heads at Tennessee's pro day for the 2026 NFL draft.

The cornerback clocked a 4.38 in the 40 yard dash, leaped 38 inches vertically, and hit a

10 foot 7 broad jump.

Coming back strong from an ACL tear that wiped out his 2025 season, he proved he still

got elite speed and explosion.

That workout didn't come out of nowhere.

He'd built on his solid 2024 tape, where he flashed as a legit outside corner.

Scouts already liked his ball skills and physicality, and these numbers erased doubts about

his recovery, shifting the conversation around his draft.

Stock.

Dallas Cowboys fans know the cornerback room looks packed on paper.

You got Doron Blan anchoring one side, plus guys like Corey Valentine, Kaelin Carson,

and others filling out the depth.

But the real issue is no clear lockdown guy opposite Blan, leaving that spot up for

grabs without real certainty.

McCoy slots in perfectly, as that outside compliment to Blan.

The Cowboys want Blan shutting down one flank, so pairing him with McCoy creates two defined

starters.

No need to force him inside or nickel.

He thrives, pressing receivers on the edge, letting the rest of the room battle for

back-up roles.
