Hello, and welcome to jazz as it is.

And how are you doing today? I hope everything is fine with you and your seats comfortable. Stay with me because I'm going to do the best that I can to help you out.

Miles Davis at the top of that set from his CD called ESP and we listen to 81 urban nights with oh gramsy Lewis doing a keyboard work on though you heard that high heel sneakers is a name of that composition.

And then of course you just listen to Bob James from touchdown Caribbean nights Robert Meck and Henney James born December 25th 1939.

He's a keyboard jazz artist, a ranger and producer and during the 1970s Bob James played a major role in establishing the smooth jazz genre.

Angela the instrumental theme from the sitcom Taxi I'm sure a lot of you remember that is probably Bob's most well known work today.

He is also well known for the smooth jazz classic Nautilus and was just a lady the latter from the album Bob James 3.

For their first joint album release 101 Hero Clue and Bob James received Grammy Awards for Best Pop Instrumental Performance in 1981.

Bob is a founder member of the contemporary jazz super group for play and is a Yamaha artist.

Bob also received a Grammy Award for his collaboration with Davis Sandborn on the 1986 album Double Vision.

Of course I played both of those so far and we'll play some more of Bob James music.

Very influential he was very influenced by pop and movie music.

He was often featured soloist who added a jazz touch to his sound most notably Grover Washington Jr.

In 1962 Bob began recording Bob's Trio set for Mercury.

Three years later his albums for ESP were quite heavy avant-garde with electronic tape used for sound effects.

After a period with Saravan in 1965 and 1968 he became a studio musician appearing with Stanley Turntine and Milton Jackson on the 1972 album Cherry.

And with Turntine again on the following album don't mess with Mr. T in 1973.

At that same year he was arranging and working as a producer for CTI.

In 1974 he recorded his first purely commercial effort as a leader.

He later made his best selling album for his own tap and Z album label also for Columbia and Warner Brothers including collaborations with Earl Clue and David Sandborn.

Now Bob is recognized as one of the prodigies of smooth jazz.

His music has also had a profound effect on the history of hip hop music.

Having been sampled often two of James's song Nautilus from the 1974 one and take me to the Mardi Gras from the 1975 two are among the most sampled in hip hop history.

Nautilus has been most famously sampled by Eric B. and Rocking follow the leader.

Amongst many others and the notes of Out Nautilus bass line which was played on keyboard for slick Rick children's story.

According to whose samples.com Nautilus and take me to the Mardi Gras have been sampled in 32 to 43 hip hop recordings respectively.

The first four measures of Mardi Gras, a Paul Simon's original included a bell and drum groove that is one of hip hop's fundamental break beats.

Bob's samples versions of the stylistic songs you're a right ears right is rain for their instrumental bops keep bops sup.

I'm their track called epic the title track from his 1981 album signs of the time was sampled by De La Soul keeping the faith and war and G regular.

In addition James mentioned was mentioned in a verse by Andre 300 3000 on black ice for goody mo mo second album still standing.

Now Bob is credited with raising the profits and of jazz music fusion within the mainstream.

And he influenced his results in two of the tracks again not less and take me to the Mardi Gras being in heavy demand for hip hop samples.

While playing in the Notre Dame Jazz Festival in 1963 he was discovered by Quincy Jones.

This fortuitous meeting resulted in bold conception the first of over 30 solo albums.

He also released several collaborative efforts and is the founding member of the smooth jazz super group for play releasing eight or more albums under his name.

Bob was interviewed at one time and was asked do you mind all these individuals sampling your music and his answer was really nice.

He said no I don't really mind I would just wish that they would include me and let me a system and plane and putting out some good music with them as the background.

So he is into good music good jazz and he's a very fine gentleman again Bob was born and Marshall Missouri again he's a jazz smooth jazz jazz fusion crossover jazz pianist composer Ranger and record producer.

His record labels of course is on tap and Z records cost records Columbia Warner Brothers records and red dish songs.

He is associated with four play Bob James beautiful individual born December 25th 1939 all that good music is right here.
