J.Z. just refreshed his stage name by adding an umlaut, making it J-A-C-Z. He's rolling it out for his show at The Roots Picnic in Philadelphia on May 30th, and it's already live on major streaming platforms. This tweak nods to his early career, where the umlaut appeared on cover art for his 1996 debut album, Hannibal Doubt, and it's hit, Singles. Over the years, he's played with his name a few times. Back in 2013, he ditched the hyphen, calling it outdated. Then in 2017, he brought the hyphen back for his album, 444. Now he's gearing up for a big return. His company, Rock Nation, announced two hometown gigs at Yankee Stadium this summer. On July 10th, he'll mark the 30th anniversary of his first album.
