0:00Thanks for listening to the Donnie and Dolly podcast. Catch the show Monday through Friday, 10am to noon on check. I think you're going to want to hear this. Your local sports coverage lives here. Sure would assist to an overly curved super blade to nothing flu with John Tamer. I say that the winner of the draft lottery should be the winner of a two-man lose. And Rick Dolly wall. I had a cherry tree up a little rickia. I used to go up that tree and just sit there for hours and bunch on those cherry. Years Donnie and Dolly. 10 o'clock in downtown Vancouver. We're in the Paul Carson City of thanks for tuning in folks. It's Donnie and Dolly the team on check. Don Taylor along with Rick Dolly wall. Ryan Henderson is our producer. He's the man at the controls our director. The voice of God is Derek Wong. How are you? Lovely. Couldn't be better. Happy New Year everybody.
1:00Absolutely. Happy New Year. How was your New Year? Oh, it couldn't be better. Just really good time off relaxed. Donnie relax. But the actual New Year's Eve. Did you do anything? What do you think I did? I jumped for joy a hitman night. Remember Dick Clark? We still wait for Dick Clark. Dick Clark was great. Has it been around for a while? I know, but Dick Clark was a big part of New Year's Eve. I miss him. Dick Clark was good. Who didn't like Dick Clark? Going back to the American Bans 10 days. Oh, Saturdays at 10 in the morning. American Bans 10. So I'm a little bit older than you. Yeah. So getting making it to midnight doesn't always happen for a little Donnie. Okay. I'm still up. So a friend of mine by the name of Brian Wolson, not the late great Beach Boy, but he had Scottish New Year's. What's that? Four o'clock in the afternoon. Yeah, because of the time difference. There you go. Right. It was great. So $359. He's getting ready to jump for joy. Yes. Much like yourself. Yeah. It was fun. Yeah. It was a lot of fun.
2:00You know, at my age getting to bed a little bit early, before midnight, I was okay with that. I still make it to midnight. I'm not there yet. But I know there's going to come a time when I'm not going to make it to midnight. You did not make it to midnight. No, there's not a chance in the world that he made it to midnight. No, the crown was flowing. I was having fun. It was good. Okay. So moving on, which is probably a good idea, a lot to talk about, we did have some time off. So we're catching up somewhat. And by the way, I'm going to say this, and I'll talk about this a little bit more later. But I am guaranteeing on this show today, okay, that the connox will win the NHL draft lottery. Okay. I'll get that a little bit later. And I'll tell you why in a bit. But first, speaking of those connox, who begin a six game road trip tomorrow against their expansion cousins, the Buffalo Sabers in Buffalo, then they've got that eight game homestand later this month. Rick and Y'all know it's happening at home with the connox,
3:01not much in terms of victories. But there's some news regarding the connox. I don't understand this. One day we hear about a rebuild. Then it's a hybrid rebuild. Then it's a retool. Then there's some other R word in there. And then I'm on my holidays. They're going to extend Kiefer Sherwood. He's going to be a UFA. Love them as a hockey player. But if you're a connox fan, let's get some draft picks for the guy. Now they're talking about extending him. What's the latest on that? All right. So in the last few days, both sides have spoken about a deal done. The gap right now is too far apart. Based on the gap, most likely scenario is a Sherwood will be traded. I wonder if the connox wanted to give more term and bring the AAV down. Sort of like Chris Tannab. What a Tannab. Remember you've got a lot of years in the number that kept it low? I wonder if that works better for the connox with Sherwood. Things worked out really well with Tannab. Well, no, but there's different ages.
4:01Tannab is up there in age. Doesn't appear permission to chat with other teams has been given a Sherwood's camp. And the player is a UFA. He's got leverage. Most teams don't trade for him unless they know what a deal is based on whatever assets are given up. The connox should move quick here, Don. I'm telling you, the sign them, they do realize he's a good idea for them to sign. Don, why do they pick up the phone? Why do they talk? Why do they pick up the phone? Why do they talk? They recognize the player. He's a good player. And they also recognize he's the only forward on pace to score over 30 goals this year. And also, as you've brought up before, you don't want to lose the guy for nothing. But even to the rebuild. Okay, and we're going to get into that. You can't overplay your hand if you're the connox. Teams won't overpay a trade price without assigning. Without a lightly signing. So Sherwood's done a good job here. He's doing his part. The connox can either re-sign them or move them quickly. One of those two things. You sound like you're all for...
5:01Just stop, Don. I never said that. I'm giving you the goods. I'm telling you. Why do they pick up the phone, Don? Why do they pick up the phone and talk? I don't think there was mega concrete talks about an extension. I think they were talking. And they, hey, you know, what would it take to... Why do they do that, Don? Because I think they recognize the players. It's having a damn good year. You can't fall in love with your players. He's a leading scored, Don. He's a leading scored on a team that is 31st overall. And like I said, he's going to win the draft lottery. Yeah. It doesn't connect with all the talk of the rebuild, the hybrid rebuild, the retool, whatever. It doesn't connect. One week they want to rebuild. One week they're trying to sign Sherwood. One week the coach is saying, hey, we're only six points out of the playoffs. We're going to make the playoffs. What they are. Is there a plan? Or are we going week by week to change things? Like they've shown us three different looks in the past month.
6:01Rebuild, re-sign Sherwood and the coach is saying, hey, we're only six points out. Which coaches are going to do? They're wire Donnie. Look at the positive side. They've got to leapfrogs, seven teams to get to the playoffs. They're in a league with tons of parity where every team is going over time, collecting points. So let's sign somebody. Well, you got to ask them. You got to ask them why they... But I'm with you. One week you're talking rebuild. Because it's in line with everything else they've done. One week you're talking rebuild and then you want to re-sign Sherwood. Which one is it? That's what kills the... Those mixed messages is what kills the fan base. Till you're not in favor. I'm telling you, they just keep... Week to week. Change your minds. Updates on some players. Teddy Bluger? Yeah. So that's a little bit of Donnie. Bluger and Philip Edel are on the plane. To Buffalo. You mentioned the kickoff. Yeah. So they're close. They're close. I mean, that is a positive.
7:01Right there is that Edel and Bluger going on the road trip is a very big positive. Jonathan Leckermacky. He's got some issue that is lingering. He's missed four games. I do know that he went on the road trip last week, Don, to Baker's Field. Where were they? Baker's Field. Condors. Condors and something happened. Then he went back and didn't go to Manitoba. So something's going on there. So he's got a lingering issue that needs to be addressed. I don't think it's super serious. But I think it's they're looking at it. Our tea beans. Yeah. He got called up, Don, during the break because of all the needs for Ross today. Can I see that? Rossi and Garland got hurt. So he got called up. But Donnie, if Bluger and Heel come back, well, then, you know, body's got to go the other way too. Okay. So, okay. You just mentioned Rossi and Garland hurt about a week. Okay. Okay. Okay. Some information. And this is, well, look, what a disappointment yesterday for Team Canada losing to a very good hockey club, by the way.
8:04Well, Chachia at the World Junior is in Team Canada, including Braden Coots, will play for the bronze medal today in Minnesota against Finland. Yeah. Braden Coots will play in that game. I'm not getting a whole lot of ice time. But he'll play in that game. But there's some interesting information regarding Braden Coots. Karak's first round draft pick. And his status with the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League. All right. So the Western Hockey League trading deadline is this week, Don. I think Thursday, I've been told this morning that Seattle will be trading Braden Coots to Prince Albert. And he's going to bring back as many as eight pieces, Don. Western Hockey League sources tell me this. Love those junior trades. Eight pieces. That's a ton of pieces, Don. You know that Prince Albert II in the East Seattle's dead last in the West. He's not going back to Seattle next year, folks. He's probably going to be playing in Habitsburg of the American Hockey League. He wants to be on the way. He wants to be on a winner, Don. He wants to go to a team where he can practice with better players.
9:05He wants to go and play in big games. He wants a deep playoff run. I think this is a good move for Braden Coots and his camp. You know, Seattle, they both sides giving up on his team. No, stop, Don. He's not giving up on his team at all. The kid won. He's going to go to Prince Albert. You've been a print. No, you haven't been a Prince Albert. Well, I suppose you worked there. No, I never got to Saskatchewan. Just Alberta. Saskatoon's nice. Well, you've been a regular. I wasn't with Taskman. We were paying our dues. Braden Coots looks like he's on his way to Prince Albert. What about... This is not involving the connox. He's a Dallas stars third round draft pick. But Giants leading a score. He's been so fabulous the last couple of seasons. Cameron Schmidt. I've been told the Vancouver Giants are going to announce a lot of trades here in the next little while. And I'm here in the Cameron Schmidt. Another guy that won't be in Vancouver next year. The leading score. Donnie, look for him to get moved to. Let's get back to the connox here for a second. I mentioned earlier that I'm guaranteeing a connox win in the NHL draft lottery.
10:05And that's because... Why? Well, because... Look, I get accused a lot. So do you. I'm being negative on this show. Oh, yeah. All right. I do. Believe me. I'm not so sure there is a franchise player in this draft. Just watching the World Juniors. And this is going to be the focus of our poll today. Waddling dog poll question. But his Gavin McCannum blown you away at this. I know he got three goals against Denmark. And, you know, ten points. Okay, in six games. I think that's what it is for guys. Has he blown you away in this tournament? Like, yesterday when you really needed something special to happen. That's happened. Had a really nice, now, rush, you know, in an attempt to tie the game when the checks were up by a goal late. But it didn't amount. It didn't score. It was nice. But as you blown you away at this. And I don't care if you got six points in the preliminary games.
11:06Show up in the middle games. Show up last night in the third period. He dominated. If you're going to be the first overall pick, then you've got to show. Look at Schaefer in New York. Oh my gosh. What a player. You know, you talk about the connox win in the lottery. That boy to the islanders hit a grand slam with that kid. And, you know, they went from tenth to first. I know. You know, Donnie, the kids got charisma. He's got personality. He's got skill. He can skate. He's just everybody in New York is falling in love with them. The Rangers and the Devils have been pushed to the back of the newspaper because of this kid with the islanders. That's your dream, Don. Right there is to get a kid like Schaefer to turn your grandchildren. So I'm not so sure there's a kid like that in this draft. Oh, I don't think there is. And we'll have Craig Button on the show on Wednesday. Yeah. Right. Exactly. Everything good over there. It's awesome. How was you? You're new years. It was, it was fine. Yeah. Kelsen, I only stayed up to midnight, purely because we were binging stranger things. Outside of that, we would have gone to bed far earlier before the game.
12:07It was just giving her, huh? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So yeah, it was a party. That's for sure. Stranger things. No. It's still probably a little too deep for you. Oh, I'm sure. You know, it's too deep for me. A lot of it. I'm going, the hell's going on here? No, no, no. You watch five minutes when Lane was watching your daughter, and that was, you were good. I was good. It's just some weird alien being. Vecna, yeah. Yeah. Reminding me of Star Wars, which I was never really interested in. But this is more, this is alien-y. More alien-y. Star Wars. Star Wars. Yeah, no. That means- It's just it. I guess, but not to the same, I don't know. I haven't seen Predator, but I imagine there's like some Predator vibes with stranger things. With the Scorts and Ager? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, that was good. Yeah. Of course, it was old school, so I'd like- Yeah, of course. Yeah, of course. Where's the Ager with the best? Where were we? You were guaranteeing a connox win in the draft lottery. Yeah. Have you been blown away by Gavin McKenna? I'm sorry.
13:07I expected more. I expected more. Am I wrong? Like his big games. His numbers at Penn State have not been great. Man, his numbers with medicine have. The western hockey league are amazing. And you just said it. Big game. Big game. All these games are big games. And yeah, he got three goals against Denmark. Great. But when it comes to crunch time, when it came to crunch time, and we'll see what happens today against Finland, I haven't seen a whole lot. I remember Baudard did as a, what, 16, 17 year old? A couple of years ago? Yeah. That team had 19 first round picks Canada yesterday. And remember, Craig Button came on our show and said, they're the favorites to win. I mean, that was disappointing last night on a lot of levels. Well, they were chasing the entire game essentially. Well, it's all being mapped out perfectly. They're going to win the draft lottery. Correct. Gavin McKenna has an impression that this world changed. I know it's not the BL and then all. They're going to take a sweet. They'll take that Stanford kid from Sweden. If that happens with him today, the gold medal game against check, check him. I know everybody's going to roll their eyes at that because of all the suites on this team. But that might be the right call.
14:08Yeah. Like that. I mean, while we see what Button says when he recaps this thing with us on Wednesday, because the other thing is just don't forget, we were talking about McKenna sliding, not to like 10th or something, but sliding out of that first expected first overall draft pick position, like a month ago, right? Remember, people were starting to dump on him a little bit then and Button was kind of like, ah, I'm not going there yet. So I knew that going into the tournament and then, yeah, there wasn't a, and you got the sportsman like Miss Conduct to end that game. He's not happy at the end of the game. Oh, I good. He shouldn't have been happy. But he, his hockey sense is amazing. His passing is amazing. He's not a, doesn't look like a burner. No, but there was a rush at the end of that game last night. He was flying pretty good. I just talked about it. Yeah, yeah. I was listening. Don brought up what he did is a 15 and 16 year old medicine ad is unheard of in numbers. Yeah. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. So when the connects draft him, you hold that translates into NHL success. Yeah.
15:08What's it check you're having Canada's kryptonite? Three years, three years in a row. Although this is the semi finals and not the quarter finals like the last two. Donnie and I talked about, they have a lot of kids in the Canadian hockey league right now. The mags of Don Cherry was still on. Playing the Canadian way. And they got a ton of kids on that check team that play in the CHL. That's why we're way more aggressive than the Canadians. Yeah. That's more check wise at the very least. I just, I worry that Canada, including one of Vancouver fiddleback. Yeah. He's from Vancouver. He scored last night. Good job with that name. What do you want me to say? I know that. Well, it could have gone a few ways there. Okay. More on that a little bit later. I don't mean to dump on Gavin McKenna. It's just that let's be honest here. The expectations were massive. I'm not sure they were meant. He's young, Donnie. We put so much pressure on these kids at 17, 18, 19. We do. That is agent talking. No, it's not agent talking, Donnie. Have you not heard the word?
16:08You remember Alexander Digg? You remember Alexander Digg? Well, you know what Alexander Digg did. Nothing. And he had so much pressure. He made the world junior team at the age of 16. Because he had pressure on Donnie. Don, stop it. But I feel like every, every first of all pick now. It's either your generational or bust. Yeah. Like there's no way in between. That's it. There is an in between. Like you look at the between 20, 2021, 22, Oh, and power. I'd like to say a lot for a year. Much was expected of him. Slifowski. I'm talking about that. Good players. Good. I'm getting excited. Good players, not great players. Well, right. But I'm talking about the hype going in. Right. Like the hype going in with this tournament. So you're going towards the draft. It's like you're either generational or it's a, it's going to be, you're going to be a miss. I'm not necessarily a miss, but a solid player. Yeah. That's, that's okay. Yeah. It's just that's the, that's the kind of year.
17:08Yeah. That the connection will win the draft lottery. That's what I'm, that's what I'm saying. I just can't believe you're guaranteed. I just can't believe you're guaranteed. They're going to win the lottery. Yeah, exactly. I mean, are you nuts? Yeah, I just went from 10. Yeah, that. Islanders went from 10 to 1 to win the lottery. And boy, did they ever. The conucks will find a way to go the reverse. I know they can't. Or Rick wants them to sign Sherwood. Oh, stop. They'll make the playoffs. They'll make the playoffs. They'll not have a chance. Why did they pick up the phone and call Sherwood? Why, Don? You got to ask yourself, why? And here's another one for you. Sherwood is a UFA. He doesn't have to talk to these guys. He could say, I know how it works. No, no, no. He could say, I don't want to be around for the losing. I'm out of here. He didn't say that. He's listening. He's listening. Gavin McKenna will be the focus. I was listening to you, by the way. Gavin McKenna will be the focus of our waddling dog up. Polquested. Meanwhile, here's what's coming up on the show. DTMC, is it just me coming up in the 11 o'clock hour? Elliot Friedman will join us just after 11 o'clock. We'll see what he has to say about what's happening. Oh, around that.
18:08Oh, the national hockey league. Oh, he's so bad. Big ride. The critical guy coming up later this hour. And up next, man, I'm telling you. These Seattle sea ox. That must have. That was the most impressive win in, you know, I don't know, since the Legion of Boom era on Saturday night. Against San Francisco. The most loft-sided 13-3 result you're ever going to see in the NFL. And they were all for three in the red zone. And they missed two field goals. Imagine if they had got that, it would have been a blowout. The inferness is going to join us next to talk all in the crack and are playing well as well. Oh, yeah. All things Seattle sports wise from KJS Sports Radio. He's next happy new year. Everybody, thank you for joining us. Donnie Dulley, the team. On check. Donnie and Donnie. 20:10Donnie, I'm on the rebuild train, but guys like Garland and Sherwood are the character of the team and you need them to teach the young guns plenty of other guys to trade, starting with Cain and Debrusque. There you go. And you know who brings better than anything you said in that first second. You know who Braden Coot said helped them at training camp a lot, Don? Sure would. Sure would. There you go. Like another coach. Yeah. We've heard that before. Ian Frannes joins us now from KJR Sports Radio in Seattle on the Kraken Hockey Network. How about the C-Hawks? Ian, thanks for doing this, sir. How are you? Happy New Year, gentlemen. Yeah, I'm good. Good. Hope you're well. Are you guys using the rebuild word? Is that what we're being used now? Not anymore. Not sure which R word we're using, or H word in the case of the hybrid. But nobody's really sure what's going on here. Donnie, you'd like this when Vancouver was in town. When was it Thursday last week? Whenever it was that they were here. No, Monday. It was Monday. We could go today. That's close. Yeah. Close Monday, Thursday.
21:10Yeah. Whatever. Anyway, when they were in town, I had a conversation with Ray Ferraro because we were talking about the old days, the old place. And when Ray was on with you and I used to love this because I've used it turned down here before with our local baseball team. The no plan plan. Yes. Yes. I love the no plan plan. So we had a good conversation about that. I also came to conclusion. That's telling Ryan. I don't know what your numbers are like in terms of viewers and listeners and podcast downloads. I do know this. I think every member in the Vancouver media listens and watches you guys. Because I introduced myself to a couple of guys in the broadcast team who I hadn't met in person before. John Shorthouse, Dan Murphy, guys. And they knew who I was. Not because of anything that, you know, like I do in Seattle. It's just because. Oh, Donnie and Dolly. You know, you guys are at least a big deal with the media. That's a good thing. I know our numbers are huge when you're on in. That's all I know. Well, the other thing I know is that the check comes every two weeks. So there's that and numbers are big when the inferences on. Okay. The Seahawks. 13th three.
22:10I just, over the 49ers, I just described it as the most lopsided 13th three resultant. NFL history. So Seattle finishes 14 and three top seed in the NFC. Yeah. Did anybody, you can tell me if you did, did anybody see this coming? Did anybody predict this? I, I think, you know, I usually kind of go in the season. I'm, I'm guessing if, you know, roll back the tape that I usually, I thought they would be about a 10 win team last year. I thought they would be an 11 or 12 win team this year. That's that's honestly what I thought. And I remember, I did say that on the year number of times. Now, winning the division was a different story because, and as we see it proved to be true, the division was the deepest one through three in football with San Francisco and the Rams. And I didn't know Seattle would, would top one of those two teams. I thought maybe like a wild car birth would be good. Mike McDonald's second year. I, I knew they'd get double digit wins. I just, I felt, I felt that. I mean, they weren't going to drop down from where they were last year.
23:10But, uh, yeah, I mean, to win the division and to do what they did, uh, with the 14 wins is remarkable. It's a testament to the coach, coaching staff and, uh, and John Schneider, the GM, who was just kind of marvelous job in the draft the last few years. Absolutely. Mike McDonald and the defense, uh, his, his specialty, such an outstanding defensive performance. Well, all season, but especially on Saturday, how would you compare this defense to the Legion of Boom? Yeah, that's it. It's, it's the comparison everyone's making and I get it. I understand it. I, I think there's a couple actual football comparisons. One is, now they did have Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril starting in 2013. And those guys got to double digit sacks each a couple of times, like 10 and 11. Uh, one of the things that kind of, I look back on is that defense was very reliant on, like some players that you don't normally rely on in terms of, you know, big name guys in the NFL, usually in defense. It's the edge rushers. Guys like that, right? They're like, you know, the Miles Garrett to the world, the Watts, the bosses, those types of guys.
24:12And, you know, even look at Houston, great defense. They were the second, you know, Seattle will finish ahead of them in the scoring race as far as defenses are concerned, great front line. Seattle's really deep up front, which that Legion of Boom team was. They don't have true elite all pro pass rushers, which again is what Seattle and the Legion of Boom did. Uh, the most sacks by an individual of season three guys had seven for Seattle. If that gives you, you know, so there's a lot of depth up front. Um, and the second year, like I mentioned, the Legion of Boom was built with Sherman and Chancellor and Earl, great middle linebacker, Hall of Famer and Bobby Wagner, Ernest Jones, great middle linebacker. And then he got Nikki Midwari and Devon Witherspoon, who are probably their two best players that aren't playing up front. And again, so there are comparisons to be made. I don't know if I'd go that far and, you know, that, that team had a run of four years when they were the best scoring defense in the NFL. And there's multiple Hall of Famers on that defense. So we're not quite there yet. Uh, but we're getting there. I think they're getting there and the front, the front four is really kind of the strength that goes under the radar. Cause guys like Leonard Williams and Byron Murphy,
25:13Jaren Reed, uh, DeMarcus Lawrence. Couldn't the Cowboys have used him this year? Uh, Chenanu Osu, etc. Derrick Hall really kind of stand out. But they're all kind of the, it's a sum of the parts. It's really a, it's kind of like our hockey team. The sum of the parts ends up getting things done. Uh, one more on the Seahawks. The running game. Oh my goodness. Uh, I think in the first half eight, you know, you know, you know, the game. Oh my goodness. Uh, I think in the first half eight yards, uh, every carry. And then the third and 15, they get 17 yards. I think we talked to you a few weeks ago, but the, the non-existent running game. And yesterday or the on Saturday, it was great. Yeah. A couple of things. One, some of the numbers are skewed because of the touchdown run by Charbonne. Yeah. I mean, that's 20 plus. And then the third down run was remarkable. Kind of a kind of a give up play. Yeah. Kind of a give up play. Uh, in that regard, but he hit it. And I, so I wouldn't call it a give up play in the sense that, you know, that they're hoping they get the right look. Uh, maybe it really was like two blocks and he was through. So it worked out well for him.
26:13Maybe just a good read line of scrimmage from Sam. I'm not sure. Sam Donald, but, um, yeah. But, but you know what? Consistently. You know, they didn't put up a ton of points. And Myers was bad. I missed two field goals. You can live with that. He's won enough games for him. But I think one of the things that you look at from what happened in that game is that when they needed to get yards, when they needed to get a first down, they did. Right. So it's, it's, you know, they converted a couple of third downs that were key to keep the clock going. Um, the game didn't feel as close as the score, but the fact that what the 49ers hang around offensively, uh, Seattle's offense. That is made it a little bit dicey. Um, but yeah, in the end, the running game is kind of going. And by the way, they did it without Charles Cross. They're starting left tackle, uh, who didn't play in the game. So they'll get him back for the playoffs in two weeks. He just signed a big contract extension. So it should get better in that regard too. All right. Your hockey club, uh, six, three and one in the past. 10, two wins to start the new year. By the way, they play a league record tying 17 games in the month of January. Uh, that's pretty tough for a team based out in the west.
27:13But anyways, uh, things are going well for you guys. Six, oh, and one in the last seven is what the number we looked at. Like to look at Rick. Oh, and one. Oh, you know, uh, points and seven straight. Wasn't too long ago. They were sitting in the basement of the division. And, uh, the second or third worst team in the conference. And now, uh, I didn't check this morning because on what happened yesterday. But, you know, what are they top? They were top wild card team number close to number three in the defense. So they're right there. Two back of the ducts. Yeah. So I mean, listen, it's the same thing I just talked about the CX defense. This is some of the parts. You know, and I know, uh, I was on with a rival show last week. And I was told, you know, over and over again by said host that, you know, you can't win in this league without superstars. And maybe you can't contend for a Stanley Cup without it. But when this team went to the playoffs three years ago, it was the same thing. Uh, they had, they rolled four lines out there. They played great defense. Uh, there's, they've got eight guys that can play in the blue line. Montours hurt right now. My heart is sitting out. And he's been playing really well. But he can't get back in because Flores played well. Gold tenning's been a leak. Guys, that's the biggest thing. Field group hour is rebound rebounded this year. He has had a heck of a season. Joey's been pretty good.
28:13Uh, but Groobie's been really good. Like really, really good. I mean, he's been playing really well. He's been playing really well. Joey's been pretty good. Uh, but Groobie's been really good. Like really, really good. Uh, so, and they got a fourth line that goes out and wreaks havoc and makes things happen. And seems to, to make an impact every game. And, uh, I think guys, you know, this coaching matters. Doesn't matter what sport we're seeing on Black Monday today in the NFL. His coach is getting turfed. Mike McDonald made a difference in Seattle. Lane Lambert has made a difference. He, the structure and he's got these guys believing they're buying in. And, you know, we'll see how it goes. You mentioned it. 17 games in January. I didn't just daunting daunting for those most of the broadcast, too, to be honest with you. That's very daunting. Another back-to-back starting tonight and then tomorrow. I always remember Ray Ferraro saying, uh, of Pat Quinn, you didn't know him well. But when he was playing, you'd look over at the bench and he'd say, uh, that guy's in charge. I get the same feeling with Lane Lambert when I see behind the crack in bench. Yeah. You just, there's a, there's a presence that he has. Uh, and again, I think there's a buy-in and, you know, he's, he's a good mix of old stuff.
29:15He's a good mix of old school and the ability to use new school analytics and numbers and things like that. So, uh, he likes to play a tough game. He didn't have, you know, I think, for example, like, you know, he kind of applauded Jared McCann for the scrap of Garland last week. Right? He said, you know, sometimes you've got to take matters in your own hands. Like, he's a guy that he wants guy. This is a team that didn't stand up for itself for the last few years. They do now. They do now. They don't have a guy. Uh, but they'll stand up for themselves. And so I think we've seen that a lot. They've had a lot of come from behind Wednesday season. The perseverance they show is, is pretty impressive. They've got a tough one tonight. Calgary's going to be. Calgary's going to be a rough one tonight and then Boston tomorrow. So we'll see. But so far, so good to start the new year. Ian, happy new year. All the best down there in Seattle. I, I happy new year to you too. Is, was the coach trade done? Rick? Yeah, he's going to go to a PA. Prince Albert. Poor guy. Uh, look at that. So you got my. Yeah. Yeah, my T birds. Tough, tough year for the birds. But that's okay. We'll hang in there.
30:15So. Yeah. Don't toy go. I said hi up there. All right. He's making a few trades too. Yeah. Oh, well. Yeah. You should. Yeah. Thanks Ian. See you boys. In front. For an S KGI sports radio. The Kraken hockey network. He mentioned Charles Cross there. Didn't play the other day. Uh, important position left tackle. 104.4 million dollars. Over four years. I believe it's the largest non quarterback. Contract in Seattle. Sioux. Yeah. A history. All right. Break Elliott. Top of the hour up next. We'll introduce the pole question. Has to do. With the conucks in a way. You'll see. Waddling dog pole question. Next. Donnie. The team. On check. Looking for the ultimate Vancouver Island. Getaway. Head to beautiful Parksville. And experience the Bayside Ocean Front Resort. Every stay feels like a vacation. You'll never forget. From sunrise walks on the beach. To sunsets on the patio. Bayside puts you steps from the sand.

Conucks in Buffalo tomorrow. To start a six game road trip. Dan Murphy is tweeted out. The line combinations at practice today. We'll get to that in a bit. But first our Waddling dog pole question. Experience one of Victoria's iconic destination. Sleep. Stock up. All in one legendary spot. Come sit and stay. At the Waddling dog. Today, Rick. Ryan, get her up. The Waddling dog pole question. Have you been impressed with Gavin McKenna at the world. The junior hockey tournament. 685 votes are ready. 75% say no.
32:1525% say yes. And it's a lot of pressure on this kid, Donnie. A lot of, you know, everyone thought he was automatic. First overall pick. That may not be the case anymore. The kid in Sweden is doing a really good thing. He's in the gold medal game. That kid is doing great stuff, Donnie. So, you know, is it a guarantee he's going to go first overall? I don't know. I can't say that right now. But everybody last year thought this kid was going first overall. It's happened before. We just talked with Ian Furness who covers the Seattle Kraken. And they managed to get Shane right and going into that draft. Everybody expected Shane right to go. Anybody end up going fourth? Yeah. Everybody expected him to go first overall. I remember the draft here in Vancouver. 1990 at BC Place. That was supposed to be the Mike Ritchie draft. That's right. And that didn't happen. That's right. He ended up going later on to the, to the flyers. And, uh... Oh, and Nolan went first overall. So things can change as a, as a season progresses. Obviously. But I, I agree with the people.
33:16I think he's been good. People were expecting great. He's been good. People were expecting great. Knocked great. Knocked great. And I don't think that that's been the case. And I know he's a kid. And you don't want to come down too hard on him. He's going to be okay. Yeah. And maybe, you know, this is, this is a one off. You know, you'll impress people. And he will be great from, from here on in. But is he somebody who's going to turn a franchise around at this point? Like a Matthew Schaefer who was just amazing. Oh! Connor Bedard. That can't. Well, Matt can celebrate. I'm not so sure at this point. Which Schaefer's done for the islanders? Unheard of. So I'm turning the franchise around. I'm watching the Seahawks game. Yeah, me too. On, on, on Saturday. Right? And at the same time, the islanders. I think I got this right. The islanders. And least game was going on. I don't have got a friend of mine. A little Sammy. You've been a before. I know Sammy. He texted me saying that this kid is unbelievable. What are you talking about? Yeah. And then I realized he's talking about Matthew Schaefer.
34:16I watched that game. I watched it back. The third period of overtime. My, my, my Lord. He's, David on defense. Like he is, he is just so dynamic. Donnie. Skating. Skil. And his inner views. His, his, his ten out of ten. And what you want from a dropping. Ten out of ten. I mean, just comes across so well on and off the ice. Ah. Boy. And not on team Canada. And I can see why. And I understand how young he is. And you know, when you're talking about defense men, maybe you, maybe you don't want that. And he's going to get there with team Canada down the road. But I can see why some people go. You're taking drudality. You're not taking. They talked about them. They talked about Matthew Schaefer. They talked about Schaefer. Canada talked about Schaefer. Oh, they, they, they must have. They had to. They did. Okay. Okay. Meanwhile, as we mentioned, the connox in Buffalo tomorrow to start that six game road trip. And I want you to handle this. If you don't mind. Rick, they practiced in Buffalo and Dan Murphy has tweeted out the line combinations.
35:19What have we got here, Rick? Ryan, get her up. I got the brusque. Patterson, Carlson. Is that a grass hockey stick? What is that? I'm going to say it's a cane. cane, which would be of undercane. You can't put anything. That's not it. That looks like a grass hockey stick to me. It's a son, a basser. Oh, if you look at it. I'm not touching that. I drew a corner with calf and sure wood. He's got the wood on the side of the shirt. That's wood, right? Like why he's done doing this? Like what? Dan, just put sure what he's doing with you and mine. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. And then mouse. Right. Ratu, Ratu, Ratu. And the other one we didn't get, we figured out in a commercial break is a pig, which hog, hog, pig. So we figured out, I didn't know what it was. It took us 10 minutes. It's a pig, but it's Dan's way of saying that's hog, Ratu, I don't know. It is Dan drinking this morning on the road.
36:20Anyways, you do the defenseman. You do the defenseman. That's a lot easier. Oh. Mark is Patterson. Yep. Tom V. Latter. Yeah. Who's been impressive? Oh. Am I wrong here? Oh. Well, Latter has been great. And you see the power play time. You see the shifts in overtime. Did you see Ziva, William on after hours? Yeah. A cut of Saturday. Yeah. He was really impressive. You're on the left side with Veronica, who's been, what is he? What is he? Have nine points in 10 games since the Quinn used trade. 30 minutes. He played. Hey. Boy, I tell you what. And Joseph and Myers is your third pairing. But, Veronica did an interview on Saturday night. Post game. Right? Yeah. He's wearing an A these days, is he not? He's going to be a captain some day. And I, I, I would seriously consider him to be a captain of Vancouver someday. He's got to do interviews every day then. No, but he, he's been very good. I mean, I know they, you know, they're not, you know, what are they? The one win in their last six. But he, he's been very impressive.
37:20Taking the bull by the horns and the wake of, of, of Quinn used to. Ryan, get it up. We have the stuff. He's finished. Ryan, what are you doing? Headle was on the ice today on a, in a non-contact jersey, but Bluger wasn't. All right. And then the lighter, which was the case on the weekend. We're holding a power play. Not bouillum on power play one. Yeah. And then, Veronica, bouillum normally you have two defensemen on power play two. Look, the connox with a bouillum and will land her. Two great young kids on defense. And they're set on defense. Donnie, there's no offense. A bunch about it. I think these two are going to be really good players. All right. So there you go. Connox Buffalo. And as I said, the, the most interesting part of January and not like Seattle. But a jam pack January with the Olympics coming up in February. No games. Yeah. But a jam pack February eight straight games at home. For the, for the connexion. Normally you'd be like, whoa, this is, this is great for organization. And we're going to, you know, we're going to catch up. But get some ref for wins at home so far.
38:22Like, what's the theory there? What's the theory there? What's going on? The theories. They play great on the road. They got a winning record on the road. They go on the road. They come home and they stink it out. Nine out of their last ten at home. They've lost them. And I don't think the atmosphere is that bad. It rides the arena with the deal is. I have no idea why they play so bad music. Maybe. I know they get home cooking. They get. These are that works for everyone. Home cooking. You get to see your family. You get to spend time in the city. And they're four, 12 and three at home. I don't get worse at home record in the national audience. It's the worst by far. They've lost nine out of ten at home. It's just some business here again. I think it's going to join us at the top of the hour. Check out the upcoming auctions at Abel auctions. Abel auctions are a total sponsor. Rick. Oh, January 13th, the one on Vancouver restaurant. And Port Moody Micro Burry. Which one is that? I've been to all of them. Oh, look at that. Beautiful. January 14th. We got electrical. Or what is it? Yeah. Stationery bikes there.
39:22Those are bikes. I do the bike every day. Yeah. Yeah. We'll buy another one. Hundreds of pieces of commercial fitness equipment. There you go. Oh. January 15th, the 45,000 square foot fabrication plant. And wood shop. You often do wood. Do wood work. Rather. Featuring a near new piranha iron work and dozens of welders. Is that an egg beater? Right by Abel by the A. I'm not sure. Cake mixer? Cake mixer. So that's a cake mixer? I think so, yeah. Yeah. Okay. It's versatile. You can't beat eggs on it. Okay. But it's a bigger version of the cake. Keep the wood away from it. Yeah. Oh, maybe you like that. Finally, January 16th. Over 1,000 lots of restaurant equipment, including a whole-bart legacy mixer. There you go. That must be it. Right there. For information on these auctions and many more, go to Abel auctions.ca.
40:228-B-L-E auctions.c-A. Elliott Friedman. Top of the hour. Next, though. Big ride, Twitter Guy. Donnie Dulley, the team on check. Just ahead, a big ride, the Twitter Guy. Our Bayside Ocean Front Resort inbox. You've got a submission you'd like to read. This is from our good pal, Don D. We love Don D. Is it an animal? Don D. Yes. Yeah. Don D. Obviously the Conox Home Record is the result of the local media. With little local media going on road trips, the Conox played better without all the negativity. Don D. From the animal. So Don D. How do you explain the years when the Conox have great home records? Don. The media wasn't as negative back then. Thank you. Oh, of course. Don, come on. So you're agreeing with him? I'm not agreeing with Don. If Don thinks the media is the reason the Conox suck at home, give me a break, Don. Wake up. I think it's the reason they just suck overall. Yeah.
41:22Because it's all about the negative media. Speaking of which, big ride. Nobody more negative than this guy. I love that there's still people out there that believe we are we the media are too negative about a team that is 31st in points in the league standings currently right now. But a month ago traded arguably the best player in franchise history in their captain. God traded it. And then are talking about. Yeah. Extending. Keep for sure. But what happens is and we talked about this before on the show. Connor Garland goes into a battle in the corner and he's thinking that he and McIntyre wrote that article on me. Damn it. I can't win this battle. That's what happens. Listen, Don D. He is a regular contributor and we appreciate it. It creates discussion and we love that. Big ride. Absolutely. You might be on to something with the music thing though. Who? I heard a remix of you shook me all along on Saturday night. You see DC. Yeah. A remix version though. A techno version.
42:22Played at that ring. Yeah. I almost wanted to throw up. Like who's making that decision? It's a negative. Oh. You can't remix. No. Just let it play. It should be a law. You shook me all night long. Oh. It's one of the best songs of all time. I just don't understand it. Anyway. Okay. How about the kids like it. Right. Do they? Like you talked to Quinn. Quinn wants to hear that. Yeah. My kids. They like. Well, I'm like a lot of kids out there. Yeah. Yours included. I think they like the classic rock. Leave it alone. They just leave it. Yeah. And the techno on ACDC is not right. At night. I was never a big. Never a tough person. No. I was never a big nightclub guy. No. Right. So whenever I hear techno. You know, it's like I just go, you know, you go back. Go back to the days. I'm going to a nightclub. Not being able to talk to anybody because it's so loud. Oh, that's the- Yeah, but it was techno. Getting rejected when he asked people to dance. Was techno even a thing? Very shrink away. Was techno even a thing in those days?
43:22You guys. Well, the group tecta pump up the jam. What do you think that was? That wasn't really tech. Nah. Pump up the jam, the ... My techno is that tectotronic? The group. I think it might be. Yeah. It was tectotronic. It was techno music. Like, swimics. So, Peachy or ... I'm going old with these artists. I know. This Fred again guy. Fred said Fred. No, Fred again. He's a DJ. He just did a show. He got it. He's like a big thing. What DJ? This is Boobot. Okay, first of all, so nightclub, right? Yeah. You know, rejected for a million dance requests. Music too loud. You shrink away and hit Mr. Tube steak outside the nightclub. You know what I'm talking about out there. Oh yeah. Boone County. Okay. I'll swear on the local sports seat. Story we haven't talked about yet today. Ali Ahmed. He's out. He's gone. Disappointing. This is disappointing. The White Caps announcing there was rumbling about this. They confirmed it yesterday. He's been transferred to English championship side
44:24Norwich City. So he's moving on from the Vancouver White Caps. The caps bringing up the point. Like he he's kind of rolling through this organization to the player he is now a part of men's national team likely going to play in the World Cup this year. We're in this year now for the World Cup hard to believe. But yeah, he's going to move on. This is also interesting because like a month ago, we talked about Jayden Nelson was departing the organization. He was I loved watching traded to Austin City. And part of that was because he was kind of stuck behind Ali Ahmed. And now they're both gone. And so Canadian. Yeah, it's a very interesting time for the caps. But Ali Ahmed moving on to Norwich City. Yeah. So thank you for that, Ray. Wow. What do you want me to say? Is that him leaving or the team? Is that him? That's him. Like she's soccer is so weird. Yeah, it is him leaving. But they're transferring him. So like and I believe if he moves on from there, the White Caps can benefit in terms of money back to them.
45:25It's it is weird though. Like to Rick's point, like he's kind of under contract. But he's being transferred out. He's asking out. But he was in Norwich City, like late last week. It's that's why everybody assumed that he was going there. But they still to transfer. Why would you want to leave this? Cash? I guess so. Yeah. But but but with the World Cup here, that part is surprising to me. I know, I guess obviously if the money is much greater, you want to move on. But in terms of your your being part of the Canadian national team, it's a whole city. You could potentially be playing in your whole city for a World Cup. That's a big deal. But anyway, he's moving on part of the organization. He's off to Norwich City. Happening elsewhere yesterday, the Hershey Bears. The Hershey Bears, they do their teddy bear toss? Now in a lot of teams do it before Christmas, then it benefits charities. You know, before Christmas,
46:27the Hershey Bears do their teddy bear toss after Christmas. Interesting their name. Yes, they had a lot of them on the ice yesterday. It was Hershey. They scored early in the first period. Look at the amount of bears flying on. They're known for, I think they have the World Record to get us World Record for most time bears. They do. They are known for this. The players had a ton of pink one didn't make it. You're going to see the players. I know, I know. It's out of control. The players had a ton of fun with this. Oh, had a ton of fun with this. They were jumping into the piles of the teddy bears. You're going to see their goal tender in a second here. Look at just taking them in the face. Look, they had a ton of fun with this. So the Hershey Bears, they announced that they had collected 81,796 bears. It's going to benefit their different foundations. They also tweeted out here. Thanks to the generosity of their fans. They've been able to donate 648,246 stuffed animals since 2001. And there's a debate on who started this thing.
47:33I know for Ness says, Camloops did. A lot of people say they did. Hershey did. So I'm not sure exactly who knows for sure who started it. But the bottom line is Hershey. They do it up big when they have similar to the wave controversy. Who started the wave? What's the name of it? Yeah, wasn't he behind it? He's George. Donnie's right. We did it at BC place back in the year or Empire Stadium. But when did he get his start? San Jose? Universe. Yeah, I believe so. Right. Yeah. He's still going. I know. Yeah. Crazy George. Yeah. Well, I think he's been at earthquake games in the MLS with San Jose. That's where he's located. Yeah, yeah. But I think it was what university thing he started with. And then Crazy George was great. I was there the first game he was at Empire Stadium. Really? Oh my gosh, it was amazing. He did Bruins games in New Fs. He did everything. The look helps. Oh, yeah. He looks crazy. Crazy P is taking his act. Yes. Yes. Yeah. He's at Lions and Connux games here. So anyway. Okay. That's it for me. Coming up next are good power for the first time in 2026. I'll leave Friedman. He was the one that
48:37talked about this Sherman story on Saturday night caught fire a bit. He knows a little Mr. Tube's thing. He absolutely does. Friedman's next is Donnie Nulley. The team on check. Hey, everyone. 49:42the darkness, the cold. I find it tough for coming into work today after a break and even after our extended summer holidays. I agree. I agree. Here's somebody who's next. There you go. He's Mr. Mr. Up North for St. John. We're going to both the cold and that's freezing outside Don. I'm not telling the truth. Here's something. I'm where I wear a parkour to work every day. Elliott's in Toronto. Come on. It's cold there. Never on holidays. Elliott Friedman from H like a name Canada, the 32 thoughts podcast. How are you, sir? Happy New Year. Happy New Year, guys. It's freezing here. The parkour. I'm not wearing it just for dress. It is freezing. I am sick of winter. I am sick of snow. Thank you. This is why I support global warming. I know that's not in British Columbia, but this is why I'm pro global warming. Moving on there. The latest on Kiefer Sherwood, Elliott, and you talked about him on the weekend
50:46and the possibility of him getting extended, the possibility of him getting treated. What are you hearing? Well, look, like I think I think things went a little goofy based on, you know, what I said on the weekend. You know, as I as I mentioned Donny that they talked, the two sides talked, and some people got kind of hung up on language, was it an offer or a non formal offer, whatever. The bottom line is both sides talked, and the con oxen and the Sherwood camp looked to see if they could get something done, and I just think they're still too big a gap. I was also surprised in some of the reaction, like how dare they even try to sign up. Of course, you're going to try to see, like maybe you get them, you know, who knows? You never know what happens. It's like asking somebody out, right? You never know until you ask. So I think the two sides talked. I think they tried to see if there was common ground. It didn't work out. There's still a gap. It's probably more likely than not to get traded. But, you know, everybody's together in Minnesota right now,
51:50because all the GMs there, all the agents are there. A lot of scouts there. So it's a good time to pick up people's brain. What's going on? One of the things they were talking about was that they heard Vancouver taking another run at Sherwood, but it didn't get done. I think it's unlikely, based on where both sides were, but I don't think there's anything wrong with trying and just wait to see where everybody stands. Now, I know people are like, okay, that means it's getting traded. How soon? It's really tough to tell. Like it's, it's just one of those things, Don. Like, I think the Kinox kind of have a price out there or something they hope to do and they're going to wait and hope to see that somebody comes up with it. But Elliot, I, you know, one team told me this morning, the price is high. I mean, like at the end of the day, he shouldn't be that hard to move. He only makes 1.5. A lot of everyone can fit him in in the salary cap. Are they? Yeah, but Rick, you have to understand it's poker, right? Like it's poker. Like, you know, Vancouver, you know, Vancouver wants to get their best deal and other people want to steal them.
52:51And, you know, it's, it's a little bit at the poker table. And, you know, I think that, like you know the Kinox, like the Kinox, they proved it with Quinn Hughes. If they, they'll move fast. And if they get what they want, they'll make the deal. And I think people are trying to, like, look at it. Like now, maybe, maybe you've got to create a market. You've got to get people hot and bothered. Some people are like, well, maybe we can wait a little bit here. I don't think they're asking too much. I don't think that's the issue. I think if you were saying they're asking too much, you could say, well, other teams are probably trying to steal them too. I think the other thing to hear is, is, is that there's also the question about, you know, who wants them to rent and who wants to keep them? And as best as I can tell, and I always, I'm always careful of declaring these things right because they could change. As of the weekend, they hadn't given anybody permission to talk to them. So I think there's also a little bit of fishing. Like if you're going out, you're trading for Sherwood. Yeah. And you're thinking of giving up a good asset to get them. I think you want to know, like, what does he want? And I think one of the things that happens with
53:54these conversations that the Kinox have is people start to either, either they're going to try, they're going to try to find out, okay, what is Sherwood looking for in case we do want to trade form and sign up? So I think that becomes, it's not just his salary this year. It's also what, like if you're a team trading form and you want to keep them, what's he looking for next year? So it's, there's lots of layers to this kind of thing. Absolutely. What about the rest of the Kinox Elliott? What are you expecting? I mean, who else could be on the move? Are they, are they still in your eyes in the rebuild mode? Because now you're trying to sign Sherwood. He's 30. He's a UFA. All the Adam foot said he's still trying to make the playoffs. Like what field do you get for the rest of the team? Well, you know what? I just think that as a team, Rick, you play hard, right? You know, I, I look at it like this. Like I see that the players, they don't care about rebuild, not rebuild. Adam foot, their job is to win games or try to anyway, right? And I see a team that
54:57plays pretty hard. Like they lost on Saturday night, but I didn't think, I don't look at it and say, oh, boy, there's a real big lack, lack of effort. You know, this team is mailed again. So I don't think the players care about a rebuild. They want to win games. You know, first of all, I don't think Myers is going anywhere. I, you know, I, I don't think like I think guys about teams have asked you guys about Ronaq. I don't think he's going anywhere. You know, like, as we know, the Kinox, their UFVs, they're kind of out there. And we'll see where it goes. But Sherwood's obviously the big one. And I think that, like I said, it's, it's a big poker game right now. And the one thing teams will tell you is that they know it like with Vancouver, like some teams, they draw it out, they draw it out, they draw it out, they wait Vancouver if they get what they want. They'll just go. So you have to be aware of that. Yeah. Elliot, we've been talking about this a lot today. But how would you describe Gavin McKenna's World Junior Tournament so far? You know, I mean, I think, first of all, I think overall for Canada,
56:00gone like you, you disappointed, like, you know how this country is. You don't win gold at the world juniors. And let's have a summit. It's a catastrophe. You know, they, I got to say, like, I watch that sweet, I watch that sweet and Finland game and that Canada check you game. Yes, say there's not a lot of difference between those four teams. Like you, you play those games 10 times and you might get five or five or the other. Yeah. I look at it this way. Look, did he have the best tournament? No, he didn't. Like, it's, let's be honest. But like, I don't want to put a bullseye on a kid or say, this is what I think of this kid right now. He's had a tough start to the year. And but I always look at it like, this is the best thing that could ever happen to him. Now you've been, you've been kind of like, like the young stud for 17, 18 years. Everybody's said great things about you. You know, Donnie, we're old enough. You and I know that doesn't last.
57:04There's always time that people come at you. There's always time that people turn on you. This is his first time, really. Learn how to handle it. Deal with it. What went wrong? Fix it. Solve it. Let's go. And I think this is the best thing that will ever happen to him. I think in a long run, he'll look back and say, he needed this. As far as the Olympic go, Olympics go and team Canada's roster, what can you give us any update, Elliot, on the injury suffered by recently, by Tom Wilson and former Connect Bull Horvack? Yeah. So Tom Wilson is day to day. They announced it this morning. And I'm happy to hear that because when Kelly Rudy saw that injury on Saturday night, he was like, that's, that's not good. Horvack has been skating. He skated Saturday morning before the Allenders did. Not with the team, but beforehand. I was told he'll be out a week for sure. So at the end of this week, they're going to reevaluate him and they hope, you know, he'll be day to day by the end of this week. Seth Jones for team USA looks like he'll be out about a month,
58:11but it sounds like he's going to be okay to go to the Olympics. The one I'm worried about, or the two, I'm worried about are the two Colorado guys and Landis Cog. If that looks like a rib injury, that's going to be a problem. I hope it's not. I hope it's okay because Landis Cog deserves much better luck, but I'm concerned after seeing that and Taves. You know, the one thing I heard about him was don't jump to any conclusions. Let's see what the doctors say this week, but I think there was a little bit of concern, but like I said, people said don't jump to conclusions. And Elliot, my lord, is this the last time Matthew Schaeffer doesn't make a Canadian roster? He was. Well, I got to say, again, I hope Taves is there because I don't like to see people lose it because of injury, but Taves, the left hand shot, Schaeffer's the left hand shot. Like, you got to think that if Taves can't play, Schaeffer's going to be right there, right? So, you know,
59:11I'll tell you the other thing too. I talked about it with Kyle because Kyle worked that you know what the best thing about that kid is is the enthusiasm, right? And he like he is he is brought. He's so good. He's so talented. He's always got the puck. He's always right in the middle of the play, but just like the it's almost funny. Like we were talking about it. Like it's almost too good to be true. Like nobody can be that happy all the time, but I could see why you'd want him as a guy to have around just because you know, he's going to be happy and always going to be in a great mood. And you know, I just think that if like I remember, I've had coaches telling me before dawn on teams. The most important players are your best players and your guys that play the least because if your best players are buy in and your guys who are playing the least buy in, then the guys in the middle follow through. If your best guys don't buy in or your or your least playing guys don't buy in, then the guys and then it's a disaster because the guys in the middle
1:00:12will gravitate to the people who aren't in a great mood. Matthew Schaefer, if he's on the Olympic team, you're not going to have a problem with him buying in. Love in the parka, Ellie. Oh, oh, I'm sure it's doing the trucking. It looks good. I got to tell you so, so I'm sitting in my wife's car. She just went shopping and said, I got to come do the it. So I'm sitting here right now. She just came to the car and she's like, oh, I can't start it. I've been trying to get her attention. I come in and start the car. Nobody cares. So she's standing outside. So I'm divorced by my next picture. Oh, you guys are helping me pay the alimony. Yeah, I'll just get you. You'll start charging us more. Elliott, thanks, thanks for this. All right, guys, take a seat. Stay, stay, stay warm. And by the way, all of Elliott's fee for doing this show goes to the Conks for Kids Fund. And that's the type of guy he is. Yes, it is. Maybe that will that'll increase. But Matthew Schaefer, I'm glad he said that because I just couldn't believe what
1:01:14I, I believe what I saw now that I've seen him a few times, but he is just a tremendous and you think of his interviews and you just talked about him being happy all the time and you think about what he and his family have gone through. It's gone through a lot extra extra special. Absolutely. Okay, let's take a break and we'll update the poll question. It has to do with Gavin McKenna, Donnie and Donnie, the team on check. Donnie and Donnie, the team is supported by Abel auctions.ca, closing your business, we can help. 1:02:19We need new generic music. Yeah, big time. Do you think I'm licensed to this type of music? There's something from the 80s. Well, I have a good selection that I rotate through. But this song has been around for five years. This is one of our, I like it. It's one of our OG ones. Is this a song? It's a song. Yeah, there's music. I thought it was generic. What is this song? It's a generic song. What's the name? What's the name? The name is, hold on. Easy money. Well, that's good. By Rex Banner. But there's no singing. It's just music. It's instrumental. Yeah, it's instrumental. Okay. It's clicking in now, right? Yeah, it's all starting to click in now. Okay, Waddling Dog poll question. Should we change the music on Daudi and Daudi? Experience one of Victoria's iconic destination. Sleep, set, stock up, all in one legendary spot. The Daudi come sit and stay at the Waddling Dog today. Rick, Ryan, get her up the Waddling Dog poll question.
1:03:21Have you been impressed by Gavin McKenna at the World Juniors? Look at this. 75% say no. 25% say yes. 800 plus votes. It's starting to hop and pop. And Gavin McKenna and Kenna are knocked out of the tournament yesterday. Well, no chance for gold medal for the third straight year by Chetia. Now, Ken and North Vancouver, and are based at Ocean Front Resort in box. McDavid at four points and seven games. His first world junior, why are we expecting 17 year olds to lead a good point by Ken and North Vancouver? Maybe we're extra critical here in Vancouver. Yeah, because as I said, I'm guaranteeing the connects when the draft lottery called it in any year where you're not at this point anyway, not really sure who the first overall pick is going to be because you were seeing an opportunity here for the connects possibly to land Gavin McKenna. You know, here's the other focuses on him here, maybe more than anywhere else in Canada.
1:04:21Although, look, what's happening with Winnipeg? No, dead last. You won the president's trophy. They won the president from what are they called the penthouse to the outhouse? Outhouse. That's what the phrase is, right? Listen, okay, McKenna, the reason people are doing this is that you're thinking about the penthouse. Donnie, at the age of 15, he did something incredible. He went to medicine at playing the Western Hockey League post to good numbers. 15-year-olds can't do that. That's really good. Now he's playing against men 23-24 and NCAA. So he's been playing 20-year-olds since he was 15-year-old. Now he's playing 22-23-year-olds at Penn State. So I think because of that, people expected him to rise more. He's still over a point of game at Penn State. But I don't care about preliminary games at the world juniors. Just like Bantam Provincials at BC or Alberta, I don't care if you beat a team 19-1 in the round-robin games and you got nine points. Where are you in the silver medal, gold medal games?
1:05:22I think what's happened also over the last few years is that hockey fans have been spoiled. Canadian hockey fans, especially, have been spoiled by what they've seen from McLean Selbreaney. That's right. From Connor Bedard, from Matthew Schaefer, those first overall picks that have turned franchisees around, or at least we think Bedard is going to turn it around with Chicago eventually. Schaefer seems to be doing that with the Islanders, certainly celebrating with San Jose. So now the next player comes along who just happens to be Canadian. You expect as human nature, you expect the same sort of thing from him. And after watching the world juniors and giving the position of the connoisseur in, I'm not so sure about that. Here's another one for you, Don. Now everyone's got a cell phone. There's 500 million people that are reporting on this kid. Do you go back to when you and I in the 80s? Did you remember any articles on Jim Sandlack? I don't remember reading anything about Jim Sandlack. Are you blaming the media? I'm not blaming the media, Don. I'm telling you that there's so
1:06:22many articles written on this kid. How great he is. Oh my god, he's great. He's great. I can't tell you anything about Jim Sandlack before the connoisseur drafted him, Donnie. Well, okay, but you say that. And here's something that, you know, to be more positive when it comes to Gavin McKenna, Jim Sandlack had a great world junior tournament. I remember that. I do. After I believe after being drafted by the connoisseur back in back in 84 and his career as an NHL player didn't pan out. It didn't pan out. I think you got up to 18 goals or whatever. So great world junior tournament, not so great at the NHL level. Sorry, Jim. If you're watching out there, maybe McKenna will be the other way around. I love Jim Sandlack. I was dying for him to work out. What are we talking about, Jim Sandlack? Yeah, I get that. We never had any video on Jim Sandlack back in the 80s. These guys now have tons of video, whether you're in Europe or Sweden or whatever. People are seeing video of these kids at 14, 15, 16 London nights, the house. That's all the house.
1:07:23Bob McCammon gave me that nickname. It was a play on the fridge. Yeah, because the bear is defense. There you go. Can I just say quickly, by the way? What's with a gold medal game on a Monday night? What's wrong with that? Your problem. Yeah, that's bad. Bad feel. Gold medal games are supposed to be on a certain date. Sundays. Usually the tournament wraps up on a Sunday. I think that from a financial point of view, it would make more sense to have it on the weekend. Yeah, put it in anything past me. I tell you. Well, by the way, the Minnesota is getting dumped on. Well, to help the Americans got eliminated early. Well, there's a lot of right from the start. Nobody. I don't know about this, but how many Canadians are willing these days to cross the line? That's definitely a factor. Unlike you guys who don't have a problem with this at all, support the American economy. But they shouldn't be dependent on Canadians at that tournament. Where's the people in Minnesota? Yeah, I was a bit surprised at that. Like Rick says, like, state of hockey. Okay, 2500 at some games. It's ridiculous. A lot of people are bringing up
1:08:27the cost. The tickets were priced. We weigh way too high. That's not right. Yeah. Do we have time to show Merf's lines here? Yeah. Oh, just for Dolly well to do it again. I'm not doing it again. No, no, no, no. I'm not doing lines. I'm not doing lines. I've been texting with him. He wants you to do this. So connocts in Buffalo tomorrow to start the sixth game road trip. And they practice today here are the lines. Debronson, Patterson and Carlson, how good would they on Saturday that line? Yeah, they're positive. They were in Carlson getting the contract extension. You got the contract extension. Good for him. Kane, that's a picture of a cane, according to Murphy, with Sassan and Besser. DLC is O'Connor with Camp and Sure Wood. That's wood after the sure. And so, O'Connor with the rat, which is rat too, I can't believe Dan is doing this. Anyways, and the one that caught me off guard was the pig. The pig, pigs are great. You don't like pigs? I mean, sure. That was a cartoon with the pig back.
1:09:32Baked. I pulled the movie, babe. Oh, babe. That was a good movie. Are you kidding me, Don? Pigs are good animals. Do you have one as a person? No, what about the teacup pigs? Little teacup, what are you talking about? The cute little pigs? You guys have seen a teacup pig. It brings a bell. Oh, let me get a photo of a teacup pig. Yes. Anyway, the pig is a hog lander, hog pig. I didn't get that. It took me a while to figure that out. And the defense combinations, again, Ryan, they forgot the teacup pig. This is a teacup pig? Yes. Small and a pig. No, it's the defense combinations. So this is a teacup. So why would you call a pig a teacup pig? Because it's small, fits in a teacup. Look how cute these animals are. Look at the smile. Yeah, they're just cute animals. And they get screwed up. Pigs obviously not a connect fan. Ryan, get rid of the pig. Get the defense
1:10:33lineup. Donnie's going to do the D. And there's other information on there. That's choice. Wow. Is that AI or really? No, that's breathable and alveena points. Oh, okay. Is that is that AI? No, that's a pig. So that's what those pigs would don extend. Sure would. Yeah, hogs. They're not hogs. They're pigs. Ryan, get the freaking line up up. Donnie, go through the D and he'll too. Ryan, get it up. Here we go. All right. All right. Here we go. Go. Oh, okay. You've blown it up. Marcus Pedersen with the lander, bouillum. So impressive. And after hours on Saturday with Heronik, Joseph with Myers, Filipino, non-contact Jersey. But he was on the ice, Bluger. Was it? The lander, as we saw on the weekend, quarterback on power play at number one, which took a lot of people by surprise. He he's gotten better. He's he's improved game in game out. He's so good. And he's finally getting overtime shifts. You know, with his skating, he should be in OTV. Connect positive, right? We're not always negative here. We're being positive.
1:11:35Positive. Well, lander is just that this kid's going to be good defense combination on power play to Heronik and bouillum. Yep. Absolutely. Good. Yep. You got some business. All right. Got the any read? Yeah. Is that the new read? Yep. All right. Here we go. B.C.'s number one sports memorabilia and gaming shop is pastime sports. He can be reset. You forgot. You know, I didn't. No, I didn't. I did because I
1:12:36cleaned up the stuff anyway. Anyway. Plus, Shervin was at past that recently. We should promote the most recent signing at pastime sports. The pop figurine is a carnivore dart snubbed from team cat. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. I wasn't shocked at that, especially when you consider that he would have been a borderline player. I think not a borderline player, but a decision and then the injury. Yeah. Yeah. Because I'm together. Then you figure out that he's not going to be on team cat. Let's go to Mr. Tube Stake. Yeah. Mr. Tube Stake. There's a lot of people that don't know what you're talking about with Mr. Tube Stake. Well, how could you? Well, anybody my age, you know, Derek, do you know Mr. Tube Stake? Yeah. He's our food caught a sewer over here. There you go. You know, they think it's still around town. I know. I just hot dogs on the fly. Yeah. Oh, it's the best. The 31st critics choice awards were handed out yesterday Sunday. Choice one one. One battle after another was named best pitcher. The film won two other top prizes best director. That's Paul Thomas Anderson and best adapted screenplay Frankenstein. Oh yeah. You know Frankenstein. Oh, are you kidding me? Frankenstein and sinners tied with a leading four awards. Frankenstein's prizes included best supporting actor for Jacobi L. Ortiz turn as the creature. Hope I got that name right. I've seen all three of those movies. This is rare that I've seen movies that are all of them. I'm old. I'm still, you know, like watch old movies.
1:15:46But I, I'm actually up to date when it comes to movies. And I got to say of these three movies. My least favorite was one battle after another. You see it? No. It's the favorite never. It's the Oscar favorite. Golden Globes this Sunday. It's this coming Sunday. It'll probably win there as well. It was really long and kind of confusing and check it out. Yeah, you know what you'd like it. The best Frankenstein was the guy on monsters. Well, he was, he was herman monster. You're herman. But yeah, he played, he was really good. Okay. This, you should check out Frankenstein. The new one. It's good. You see it right? I, you don't see movies. What am I asking you now? Sinner is also really good. Sinner's was excellent. Derek's to give me the nod. Wasn't Paul Thomas Anderson. Didn't he? Boogie nights. Oh, you said movie. Boogie nights. Oh, Boogie nights was great. You watched it again and again. Stop it. I was a licorice pizza he did. That was not great. But that was like a, a trendy one. Yeah. And it, it, it, yeah, it was a lot of hype
1:16:48and I didn't feel, I watched it after the hype. I didn't feel lived up to the hype. But the other one he did that I love was there will be blood with Daniel De Lewis. Oh, that's a great movie. Just like anything with blood in the time. Blood in blood out. Yeah. Yeah. 1993 on the TV side. Adolescence also earned four awards, including best limited series, best drama of the pit with Noel Wiley. Everybody's all over that one right now. Yeah, it looks like I, I feel like I've been there and done it. Well, because he was in ER, a hospital drama, right? Yeah. Yeah. And he was in ER, right? Way back. Yeah. Was he? Yeah. That was with, was ER with George Clooney? Yeah. Yeah. Same time. I tell you, I tell one of the best movies I've seen the last month was Jake Kelly. Without it's including it. Oh. Yeah. Very good. That's on Netflix. Yeah. Yeah. Best comedy, the studio, the studio Seth Rogan from Vancouver, best actor in a comedy series. And I mentioned the Golden Globes on Sunday. Did you watch anything over the break? That's what movies for Christmas movies. What are you
1:17:50talking about Ryan? Which watched the polar Express again? I love the pole. That's a good creeps me out. Max likes that one. No, that creeps me out. It's a card too. No, I know what it is. The animation is creepy. It's different. Yeah. It's a beautiful Tom Hanks does a good job in this. He does. He does. The Christmas vacation is so good. It's, it's here and then everything else. Yeah. Elf's also good. Oh, I hope it's good. And as you know, I'm a big fan of four Christmas. I know. Don't like Christmas with the cranks. The cranks? Oh, yeah. The Christmas with the cranks. Yeah, with the Jamie Lee Curtis. And Tim Allen. Yeah. Who have never found funny? I know. Yeah. What about the Santa Claus with Tim Allen? Come on. I don't know. Come on. Home improvement was so big. It just never capped. I don't. Yeah. I didn't like that guy. You didn't like Tim Allen either? Well, not a big fan. Oh, come on. January 5th, birthdays. Yeah. Ryan Music. And what do we do in here? You're doing? No, the sponsor. Do we even have one? Derek, do you used to have one before Christmas? Oh, right. Joe Shalbotniks. You cut Christmas tree
1:18:53farm and axoring in Poryam in Barkerville, British Columbia outside of Cornell. So we'll change us for tomorrow because we do have another one we can use because Christmas is over, right? It's a beautiful Cornell. Good people up there. All right. Here we go. Barkerville too. Get ready. Undrafted in the 2009 NHL draft. This player signed as a free agent with a conucks in 2010. Thanks to Scout Lars Lindgren. In Manitoba, he was named the American Hockey League All-Rookie team in 2010. Early in his career in Sweden, he shared the gold-tending duties with former NHL great at Bell 4. Eddie Lack. Oh, how'd you get that? I remember the Bell 4 story for some reason. Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. Clear the track because they're both eighties. Yeah, clear the track for Eddie Lack. That's you got it. I'm surprised you got it. He's a real turn now. He's a real turn, and he was, he's been on our show. Been on our show. Yeah, he's a great guy. And we're starting in the outdoor classic at BC Place. Oh, he's, he's, he's, he's on Twitter and then he quit because of the nut bars. The nut bars get to you on Twitter. Anyways, this undrafted Ford would score,
1:19:57it would score 370 goals in his NHL career. Four times 50 goals plus in the 1980s. One year, 48 won the bill mastered in Memorial Trophy in 89 for perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication. Holds the playoff record for four goals in eight minutes. Member of the Philadelphia Flyers, Hall of Fame, get going, Donnie. Powerplay specialist. Tim Kerr. Tim Kerr. Oh, it was like a slot machine. No, Tim Kerr was the best. He's got the record, which will never be broken. 34 powerplay goals in one year. Ever. He just stood in front of the net. Tim Kerr was the best. I love Tim Kerr. I'm going to say that. Don't say it's never going to be broken. Have you seen the powerplay goals right? Listen, Matthew Schaefer is nimpin at Bobby Orbs. Bobby Orbs. And it would guess that, though, right? Who would guess for some of his goals? Oh, Vetsch get getting the most goals. Come on. Okay, here we go. This is out of your pipe. Hey, just Latvian Ford, drafted by the connox of the seventh round in 2016. 20 goals for the Portland Winterhocks in 2015.
1:20:58Latvian? Latvian would never play a game for the connox. His rights expired from the connox, and then he signed with the Panthers in 2019 today. He plays Gagevich for the Philadelphia Flyers was in town last week. Ables. Rodrigo Ables. Yeah. Ables. Yeah. Ables. Ables. Ables. Ables. Shut up to them. Rodrigo Ables. Yeah, he's still going. Good, good, good on him. All right. This American actor inspired to get into acting after watching the elephant man. Remember the elephant? Oh, oh, David Lynch. Yeah, David Lynch is elephant man. What a great thing, right? Oh, again, why am I asking? I don't know. I don't know why I ask you. He hasn't seen Slopchot. You're asking him about elephant man. If it's not Marvel, you don't see it. That's that true. He, this guy once gained 40 pounds for a role. He's known for significant physical changes. Christian Bale. Huh? Christian Bale. No, it's not Christian Bale. I love Christian Bale. Come on, Derek. Derek's really wrong. This guy has struggled with alcohol and cocaine addiction in his late 20s.
1:21:59He overcame it, became sober. His film is a gross 13 billion worldwide. He's one of the world's highest paid actors. World's highest paid actor. He's had another plan. We don't know, but world's not a kind of hate, right? Just listen, he made his film debut in the comedy Wet Hot American Summer in 2001. Bradley Cooper. Bradley Cooper. I never, I don't remember wet American hot, they're wet hot American summer. You remember the other thing? Do you remember the movie? Well, I know that that's how people describe you washing your cards wet hot American summer. He starred in that. All right. Let's go. Come on. We got to get going to this. American silver linings playbook. Is that the one? Yeah, that's it. That stars. Silver linings playbook with Robert De Niro. He was the sexiest man alive in 2011. All right. Who is still on Bradley? Bradley Cooper. Well, you keep bringing him up. Okay. This American actress is career-span five decades. She collaborated. We don't know that word. Collaborated frequently with Woody Allen
1:23:03appearing in eight of his movies. Diane Keaton. No. Come on, man. How do you know? He is ex-girlfriend. He is ex-girlfriend. They went out, but her first film was played against Sam in 1969. Annie Hall. Yeah. Annie Hall. She was, did you want to encounter me or work for Annie? The Lobsters. Oh, yeah. Let's go. Okay. Last one. This American Oscar-winning actor. I love this guy. He roomed with Dustin Hoffman and Gene Hackman and studying school and studying school. Instead, well, they're studying acting. They're all buddies together. Is it all school? Studying. Just stop studying acting. His career spent seven decades. He served in the army. First feature film all to kill a mockingbird in 1962. He portrayed Boo Bradley. The Kill a Mockingbird. Great book. A teacher's name. I bet you read that. Kill who didn't read to Kill a Mockingbird, Don. He was in the movie Apocalypse Now in 1979. Oh, okay. He was lucky, Ned Pepper in True Grit in 1969. He had a great shootout with John Wayne.
1:24:03Robert DeVal. Robert DeVal. Oh, I love the smell of Napalm in the morning. But the first film that got me was Colors in 1988. He was a costume guy. He was also the Godfather. Yeah, Sean Penn and were great in colors. Speaking of four crises. Yeah. Oh, he was good. And he was great. But True Grit in 1969, John Wayne. What a great flick. He was also good. And what was the one where Will Ferrell was a soccer coach? Yeah, yeah, yeah. The practice. We called some practice or something. Yeah. I know the name of the team. Kicking a screaming. Kicking a screaming close. But anyways, that was a good flick. Yeah, there were practicing soccer. I always remember his line from that movie. I take a vitamin every day. It's called a steak. John Wayne, True Grit, what a great flick. Go watch True Grit. John Wayne and David DeVal. Great guys. The first one. Yeah. Robert DeVal. David DeVal is a golfer. David DeVal is a golfer. I'd love to. I've been definitely watched that other one though. I want to make sure now you got the right to fall for his birthday
1:25:04today. Yeah. Why? Hey, I just Robert DeVal's birthday. It's Robert DeVal. He's a great actor. David DeVal, who hung up on Pratt. Pratt. He hung up on Dave Pratt at 1040 early, early in the early years. Okay. What's coming up next? Is it just me? Next meanwhile, Michael Steibrick, born 65 years ago, Sunday, and he and his buddies out of Athens, Georgia. They're going to play us out from February, 93 in the brilliant album, Automatic for the people. This is REM. The Sidewinder sleeps tonight on check. Sports talk, Alt Rock on a BC Monday morning. Looking for one of Victoria's most iconic stays. The award-winning, Waddling Dog has been welcoming guests in their dogs for over 30 years. 10 minutes from the
1:26:08airport in the ferry, the Roondland Vintage Charm with Margaret Comfort making it the perfect home base for your island adventures. Your trip isn't complete without a stop. At the legendary Waddling Dog Pub, 20 taps, wall-to-wall TVs, every conucks game, and UFC pay-per-view plus an extensive daily happy hour. And before you go, stock up at their cold beer wine store, hundreds of local and imported options, plus exclusive Donnie and Donnie merchandise. The dog isn't just a hotel. It's a destination. Come, sit and stay. Is it just me? Not much time, but let's rock and roll. All right. Team Canada needs less OHL kids. More tough and gritty Western Hockeyley kids. Be harder to play against. Plantman from Surrey. This was a heavy Ontario-based Canadian team for sure. Yeah, Deal Hunter coming under some criticism for not playing the Western players as much as Eastern players. Peter Puck,
1:27:12is it just me? I was trying to find blood in, blood out over the break. I couldn't find a movie with that title. Rick, does it go by another name? No, it's just Google that just is a Peter Puck. Tell Peter Puck to Google, blood in, blood out. I think he did. No, he's got to Google it. And then he's got to go and just go into where do the kids get their movies now? Go in there and get it. I'm not sure, just to look up David Duval and go from there. Is it just me? But McKenna stock going down as good for the connox as they will likely pick second to fifth from Randy and Colmox. Fire up the draft simulator. He says, by the way, that's what I'm trying to say. This is the year the connox will win the draft lottery. I'm predicting that because maybe McKenna stock goes down and maybe he's not a franchise type player like a Matthew Schaefer or a McLean celebrity or Conor Badard. He's also not a centerman. He's a winger. Yeah, which is also a big factor as well. Team Canada was missing the heart. The talent was there. The right management group. Kids didn't want it enough sleep bag and mission.
1:28:13I just disappointed how they blew that lead and they just checked the checks kept coming back like two minutes later. It was very frustrating. But the connox can any of these keep coming back? Came coming back. But the checks answer. Aaron, Aaron and Salfat, is it just me? Gavin McKenna is not even a connox yet. And yet here I was yelling at my TV at Aaron and Salfat cover. That's very good. Okay. How do we do for time? Okay. Oh, I break. We got some pictures, right? Yeah, we'll get tons of pictures. Coming up and we'll recap the poll question. Next, Donnie and the team, watch out. Don Paul Rick Ryan up. Waddling Don Paul question. Ryan, get her up. Up. Hope we go. Ryan up. Here we go. Have you been impressed by Gavin McKenna at the World Junior Tournament? 75% say no. And 25% say yes. 900 plus folks.
1:29:14What? And a frog in the throat. But anyways, let's go. We got tons of stuff. Also Gavin and team Canada playing from bronze today in Minnesota against Finland. Chechi and Sweden for gold. Yeah. But he got a birthday first before we get to the pictures. Happy birthday to Anara from her mom. A big fan of the show watches every day. So happy birthday to Anara and all the best. Happy birthday. Happy birthday. And happy new year. And where we going right now? We got tons of pictures. We're going to Rajasvina with a member of our show. The Taylor clan. Oh, yeah. This is Dave. Dave from Cedar on the right in the Donnie and Donnie had with Quinn Taylor. Part of the show every Friday. What game was this? Well, take a look at his jersey. Oh, Philadelphia. That's right. Dave from Cedar is a big flyers fan. He sent me a picture of him and talk it. See, there's a good guy talk it. Outside the hotel took pictures with all these guys. That good guy talk it. Anyways, Dave from Cedar with Quinn. And that happened while we were off. Talking must have been loving that flyers come in here.
1:30:16Talk it's got the flyers. They're top 10 in the NHL. He's three points out of first in the East. You don't think he's happy? Of course, where he's at? Well, it makes the reaction to his tribute. I know. I couldn't believe he got booed. Johnny, you see their embossed. Yes, I get all that, but he might have had a good reason to leave. There was five reasons for for one. But I was just I thought he wanted Adam's award. And you know what? If Adam foot doesn't win, the Adam's award this year. And I'm thinking Rick talk it is another strong candidate. Yeah, but you know this market. If he want to stay, he'd be coaching the 31st place team in the NHL. People are emotional. If you leave Vancouver, he knew what he was doing. He knew Quinn. He used this God. Why would he side for five years? Yeah, but Rick and then Quinn walked. Look at the people dumping on Quinn. You since he's been treated. And right, pictures, pictures. We got to get to the bottom of the couple a cannonball cam. This guy with a tuner or a Marlin. There's no hold on. This isn't Cabo. Cannonball cam swordfish with a hat and Marlin.
1:31:17I'm saying Marlin, Marlin. It's a Marlin. It's a Marlin. It's a Marlin. It's a Marlin. I went Marlin fishing in Mexico. What? You can't save it for another day. Wow. You catch it in a good story. Look at this. You know my good stories. Cannonball cam in Cabo. Looking great. Okay, Ryan. Last one. Last one quickly. That quickly, uh, traditional Ukrainian Christmas. Oh, yes. Including five grandkids, devil digs in a large crowd. Love that. Lawton time, follower and fan. CD from Langley. That is a Ukrainian traditional Christmas right there. There you go. The best. One of the best. Devil legs? Oh, listen, devil legs. You throw them out at a party. Gone. No matter what, you think of them. I don't think so. People love devil legs. No. They go way back. You. Oh, I love them. Roads. Thanks so much for tuning in. Folks, connection Buffalo tomorrow to start that six game road trip. On behalf of Ryan Derrick. Rick, everybody here at Illinois. Check. I'm Don and you have to date in the world of sports.
